Club boss gushes over “revolutionary” Man United loanee after his jaw-dropping performance in big win

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick was full of praise for Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford after his off-the-bench cameo powered the side to a 2-1 Champions League victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. Rashford makes a difference Barcelona headed into the tie with Frankfurt as heavy favourites but it was the Bundesliga club that took the lead courtesy of Ansgar Knauff‘s 21st-minute opener. Frankfurt aimed to frustrate Barcelona and their tactic worked for large parts of the match, until Rashford was introduced at the interval in place of Fermin Lopez. The United man wasted no time, impacting the game almost immediately. Rashford set up Jules Kounde for the equaliser with a sublime delivery to the back post, which the French defender met to guide into the back of the net. Kounde added a second just three minutes later to flip the game on its head and put the Blaugrana in the driving seat. Barcelona struggled to break down Frankfurt’s stubborn and compact defensive unit, but Rashford’s vertical threat gave them something different and helped them clinch all three points. Mundo Deportivo branded Rashford’s showing as “influential” while Sport labelled him “revolutionary.” Speaking after the final whistle, Flick also hailed the Carrington academy graduate. Flick lauds Rashford The German coach said [as quoted by GOAL], “I wasn’t surprised by Eintracht’s approach. I told my players to forget the past game [Frankfurt’s 6-0 loss in Leipzig] because they are a good team.” “In the first half Raphinha was everywhere and maybe that wasn’t the best, but his attitude is good.” “In the second half, we tweaked some things and Marcus was important to give width and stretch the lines.” Rashford has now notched six goals and 11 assists for Barcelona in 21 appearances across the Champions League and the Spanish top flight.
