Manchester United fans are always eager to see academy talents make their bow for the first team and this season, they have seen four Carrington graduates make their mark for the senior side.
Under Erik ten Hag, Toby Collyer was the first to make his debut this season. And Ruben Amorim handed debuts to three starlets — Chido Obi, Harry Amass, and Tyler Fredricson.
The Portuguese has embraced the club’s youth-first approach, with the Red Devils ranking second for minutes afforded to teenage stars in the Premier League.
More could be in the offing with Bendito Mantato, who signed his first professional deal, expected to be next in line while the head coach has also been impressed with both Sekou Kone and Jack Moorhouse.
Loan moves?
Both the Malian and the Mancunian have been regulars in first-team training and have been part of a couple of matchday squads as well.
The Peoples Person has relayed that Amorim will be taking the next bunch of promising starlets with him on pre-season tour after which a call on their future will be taken.
While fans feel Moorhouse and Kone are ready for the first team, The Daily Mail do not think so, claiming both are likely to leave on loan next season.
While Kone could be headed to a club in Europe, the Ireland U21 international is being eyed by multiple League One and League Two clubs.
“You might be surprised that Sekou Kone doesn’t appear among those names, nor Jack Moorhouse, a player we rate highly. The feeling on those two is that loan moves beckon for both.
Not yet ready
“The indications that I have received is that a loan move in Europe is in the offing for Kone next season, while multiple League One and League Two teams are desperate to take Moorhouse for the 2025-26 campaign.”
Amorim certainly needs quality in the middle of the park, which is why the expectation was that the duo would eventually make their breakthrough before the current season concluded.
Moorhouse has had horrible luck with injuries and a consistent season of senior football could do him a world of good. His ability to run with the ball is second to none in the academy.
As for Kone, his raw talent is undeniable but tactical training and performing somewhere with less pressure could allow him to flourish.
It will be intriguing to see which talents stay in and around the first team in Amorim’s first full season and who all depart on loan.
