Manchester United’s Patrick Dorgu has been impressing his teammates this season.
Positive start
The Danish wing back signed from Italian side Lecce in the January window.
Owing to United’s paucity of options at wing back, he was thrown right into the deep end of the first eleven.
He had a mixed season last year but enjoyed a strong pre-season and has been one of United’s better performers so far this season.
Whilst his final ball still needs a substantial amount of work, he has clearly improved a lot in comparison to the player he was in February.
Praise
The Denmark international was one of the few bright spots for United in their 0-3 loss to Manchester City and put in a good showing versus Chelsea in United’s 2-1 victory on Saturday.
He assisted Bruno Fernandes’ opening goal and won six duels in an absorbing contest.
After the match his United teammate Amad posted on social media, “Patrice Dorgu Evra” followed by a heart-eyes emoji.
This of course was a reference to the legendary United left back Evra who won bucketloads of trophies at United and was one of the best defenders in the club’s storied history.
Amad was not the only United player to praise Dorgu’s efforts on Saturday.
His captain Bruno Fernandes also posted on social media, “love it kid” in reference to his performance.
Whilst Harry Maguire also posted two clapping emojis to suggest his pleasure with the performance of the 20-year-old.
Dorgu will now hope to develop consistency in his showings and will look to add another strong performance to a promising season as United travel to Brentford next Saturday.
