United star takes drastic action after online criticism for actions after Chelsea victory

Manchester United winger Amad has taken a drastic decision off the pitch.

Breakout season last year

The Ivory Coast international struggled for game time under former manager Erik ten Hag.

The arrival of Ruben Amorim saw a huge increase in the amount of minutes on the pitch and Amad responded with numerous fantastic showings over the winter.

Unfortunately, he picked up a serious injury in February and did not return to action until May.

The 23-year-old has not had the best start to the season this year despite regularly playing.

His decision making has been more erratic than usual and he has failed to get on the ball as often as he would probably like.

Social media

The Mirror report that “Manchester United winger Amad has deleted all of his Instagram posts after receiving a furious backlash to one of his photos.”

The photo that was posted showed Amad holding Alejandro Garnacho’s shirt and the Argentine holding up Amad’s United top.

It is safe to say Garnacho is not the most popular former player the club has seen, at least according to the frosty reception he received on Saturday at the Stretford End.

The Mirror states that, “his post, to his 2.4 million followers, was flooded with a torrent of comments of United fans questioning his decision. ‘Can you read the room Amad?’ was one of the replies. Another added: ‘Not a good look Amad.’ There were also plenty of swear word-filled responses.”

In response to the backlash, Amad deleted all his Instagram posts and all but one of his X comments in a total social media cleanse.

Not the first time

This is not the first time that the young wing back has taken this step.

He also deleted all his social media references to Manchester United in 2024 after failing to receive many opportunities from Erik ten Hag in the first eleven.

Days later though, he would score the winning goal at Old Trafford against Liverpool. United supporters will be hoping for another strong response from the Ivorian.
