United star brings up milestone moment in dramatic 1-1 draw with West Ham

Manchester United signed Casemiro from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 for an initial fee of £60 million. History at United The Brazilian was outstanding in his first season at Old Trafford, helping his side end a six-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup, and scoring in the final against Newcastle United. He also helped guide his side to a third-place finish in the league, and they reached the final of the FA Cup, losing to Manchester City. Despite winning multiple Champions Leagues in Spain, Casemiro has reflected on his first season in Manchester as the best of his career. The 2023–2024 season deteriorated rapidly and led to pundits like Jamie Carragher claiming he was not good enough for top-level football anymore. He was also left out of the FA Cup-winning squad in 2024. He also struggled under Ruben Amorim originally but was praised by the Portuguese manager for fighting his way back into the first-team picture at Old Trafford. Casemiro has been in exceptional form this season, scoring an impressive five goals in the Premier League. It was announced earlier this year that this would be his last season at Old Trafford, as neither he nor the club will seek an extension to his contract. Milestone The club’s official website reports that after his match against West Ham United last night, he made his 150th appearance for the club. Casemiro put in a fine performance in the middle of the park and demonstrated exactly what United will need to try and replace this summer when he departs. He thought he had provided an equaliser for his side, but the goal was ruled out for offside. In his 150 games for the club, he has scored 22 goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions. In the current squad only Luke Shaw (314), Diogo Dalot (236), Harry Maguire (261) and Bruno Fernandes (315) have more appearances for the Red Devils. Casemiro will hope to leave the squad after securing Champions League football for them next season with a top-five finish.
