United set a revised asking price of £30m for error-prone star with CL club keen on a move – report

Manchester United seem to be serious about selling Andre Onana this window, if the latest reports are to be believed.

The Daily Mail have claimed that the Cameroonian has been put up for sale, with the Red Devils set to demand £30 million for their No.1.

However, as things stand, not too many suitors are there for the error-prone goalie, with AS Monaco unlikely to pay the asking price even though they are interested in the 29-year-old.

There was tentative interest from NEOM SC in the Saudi Pro League, but the United shot-stopper had no interest in moving to the Middle East, with the club opting to sign Marcin Bulka from INEOS-owned OGC Nice.

United set asking price for Andre Onana

“Manchester United have put a £30million price tag on Andre Onana, but the Cameroon goalkeeper looks increasingly likely to stay at Old Trafford this summer.

“Mail Sport can reveal that was the price quoted to Monaco when the French club inquired about signing Onana at the end of last month.

“Sources in France say that Monaco will continue to monitor the situation, but are unlikely to pay that much for the 29-year-old keeper who cost £47.2m when he joined United from Inter Milan two years ago.

“Saudi Premier League newcomers SC Neom had also been following Onana in the background for some time before signing Poland international Marcin Bulka from Nice in recent days.”

The report also claims that the ex-Inter Milan ace is confident of staying on as the club’s top goalkeeper with Ruben Amorim and goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital both pleased with the performances of the goalkeeper.

That might be a stretch given the Cameroon international’s form last season, with Andre Onana culpable for major errors both in the Premier League and Europa League.

AS Monaco remain keen

“Onana is keen to stay and club sources say the probability is that he will remain as United’s No 1 after returning to training at Carrington yesterday (mon).

“United boss Ruben Amorim and goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital are said to be happy with the former Ajax player despite speculation over a move for Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez.”

The simple reason is Amorim knows he cannot overhaul the entire squad in one summer, and hence has prioritised the team’s attack for now.

But should any club cough up the aforementioned amount, INEOS will be open to his sale with Emiliano Martinez and Marco Carnesecchi among the targets INEOS have in mind should the current No.1 leave.
