United ready to “ramp up the bidding” for Real Madrid superstar whose future under Xabi Alonso looks uncertain – report

Manchester United continue to be linked with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, whose future at the Bernabeu looks extremely uncertain amid the arrival of Xabi Alonso as the new manager.

The Peoples Person had revealed that five of the Premier League’s bigwigs, including the Red Devils, are monitoring proceedings with interest.

AS have claimed that the Spanish manager wants to make Arda Guler the centrepiece of his project at Los Blancos, which throws further uncertainty on the Brazilian’s future as he occupies the same position in the team.

United and Arsenal are ready to increase their bid for the 24-year-old to secure his services in the summer. For now, the 24-year-old seems to be on his way out but the player wants a personal meeting with Alonso before deciding his next course of action.

Rodrygo’s future

“The zenith of this whole affair is Rodrygo. The most delicate case of all. Beyond his emotional state and the opacity with which both he and those around him are deciding to handle a case that invites suspicion (situations like Ancelotti confirming that he’s “perfectly fine” and the day later, not even warmed up on Montjuïc, stir up trouble), sportingly speaking, he’s in a complicated moment .

“On an individual level, because he’s only scored one goal since February, since that visit to Brest to close out the Champions League phase. One, in almost four months. But also on a collective level: Güler ‘s overtaking is a reality, and he’s a player Xabi Alonso wants to make a strong push for.

“Rodrygo faces a very difficult prospect. And at the same time, there’s a lot of competition in the Premier League (Manchester United and Arsenal are willing to ramp up the bidding for him).

Rodrygo wants Xabi Alonso meeting

“Rodrygo isn’t sure. He’s hesitating a lot. Xabi Alonso wants to play with two forwards ( Mbappé and Vinicius ), in a formation with Bellingham on the left and, given what we’ve seen, Güler on the right. Rodrygo faces a new season with a supporting role.

“He has one foot out of Real Madrid. But nothing is definitive yet: he’s waiting for a conversation with Xabi to find out firsthand what his plans are. And based on that, decide. The door, of course, is not closed.”

Real reportedly want €100 million for the Brazilian international but given his current form, United will be hoping for a discount.

Such an outlay is not possible for the 20-time English league champions without Champions League football and player sales. Whether INEOS decide to go down this route remains to be seen.

Despite an overall disappointing campaign, Rodrygo still has 13 goals and 10 assists this season, more than all United players except Bruno Fernandes. The Brazil international can play up top as well as on either flank which suits Ruben Amorim’s needs down to the T.
