Official: United name UEL final travelling squad, it includes three welcome additions but one key star misses out

Manchester United have named a 26-member travelling party for the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao on Wednesday.

There is good news for the fans with the official website revealing that Leny Yoro, Diogo Dalot, and Joshua Zirkzee are all travelling. The trio was seen in open training on Tuesday.

The Frenchman has been United’s best centre-back and is adept at the left centre-back position. He has been key in terms of ball progression from deep.

Three stars return but one misses out

Dalot’s impeccable fitness record has helped him make a fast recovery while Zirkzee is expected to start from the bench. Ruben Amorim will provide a further update during the pre-match press conference.

Unfortunately, the list does not include Matthijs de Ligt, who was training individually away from the group. He had suffered an injury in the game against Brentford.

He is among two who miss out with Lisandro Martinez ruled out until the start of next year.

Academy call-ups

Among academy graduates, goalkeeper Dermot Mee has been included while Reserve Player of the Year Tyler Fredricson and Academy Player of the Year Harry Amass both find a place.

Toby Collyer is also included, as is Ayden Heaven, who made his return from injury in the last game against Chelsea.

Chido Obi is unfortunately ineligible for the contest.

United’s season literally boils down to this game, and they can not only end the season on a high by lifting the Europa League crown, but they can hand Ruben Amorim the fillip he needs for next season.

Winning at the San Mames means qualifying for the Champions League, which in turn will result in added funds for INEOS to spend to try and help the head coach in the summer.
