Manchester United are among the clubs keen on signing Juventus defender Gleison Bremer.
The Brazilian defender joined Juventus from cross-city rivals Torino in 2022 and instantly established himself as a key cog in the Old Lady backline, arousing the interest of several clubs in Europe, including United, in the process.
However, early last season, Bremer injured his cruciate ligament (ACL) against RB Leipzig in October, leading to a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The 28-year-old has made a strong return to fitness and form, impressing in Juve’s opening games of the season under Igor Tudor.
The Brazil international offers mobility and imposing presence in both boxes, and already has two Serie A goals to his name in four appearances this term.
Real Madrid accept defeat in Bremer pursuit
According to Defensa Central, Bremer is admired by Real Madrid’s chief scout, Juni Calafat. However, the Los Blancos are reluctant to trigger his release clause believed to be worth €60 million.
The Spanish outlet report that a number of Premier League clubs are willing to meet the Italian outfit’s demands for their star defender.
It is understood United, Arsenal, and Chelsea are the clubs in England who are “seriously evaluating” the possibility of making a move for Bremer. As such, Real have “already given up” on their chase.
Having spent their time and resources on revamping their attack in the summer, United might consider adding a new centre-back to their ranks in January, especially as Ruben Amorim’s men can’t stop leaking goals.
Man United already have a defensive gem
However, it is difficult to see Ineos committing to such a significant fee for a defender approaching his 30s.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming 17-year-old academy central defender Jayden Ngwashi is firmly on the radar of the first-team decision-makers.
It is believed the Italian prodigy has the highest ceiling of all defensive prospects at United, including Ayden Heaven, who has regularly featured under Amorim over the last six months.
