United plotting move for “next Marco Verratti”, midfield sensation to leave current club for peanuts – report

Manchester United have shown interest in signing Belgian wonderkid Zaïd Bafdili, as per reports.

United have already started working on bringing in new stars to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad for next season.

Earlier today, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Red Devils have an agreement in place to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers playmaker Matheus Cunha. United are also considered favourites to win the race for Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap.

Both forwards have enjoyed prolific seasons with their respective sides and should greatly improve United’s toothless attack swiftly.

At the same time, Ineos are also understood to be trying to sign new young talents in their bid to strengthen their youth setup.

As per multiple reports, United have won the race to sign Le Havre’s 18-year-old forward Enzo Kana-Biyik. Now, it has emerged that the Mancunians have also set their sights on another possible future star.

According to Transfermarkt, United “hold genuine interest” in Genk prodigy Bafdili, who is widely regarded as one of the most gifted teenagers in Belgian football.

The 17-year-old was a regular in the Challenger Pro League for Jong Genk in the first half of the season but he has not featured since January, when it became “clear that he would seek a new challenge this summer.”

Bafdili won’t sign a new contract at the club and Genk will reportedly be disappointed that the midfielder will leave in the summer for a nominal development fee.

Director of Recruitment at United, Christopher Vivell is thought to be driving the pursuit but the Premier League giants face competition from the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

Compared to Marco Verratti due to his press resistance, impressive decision-making, and passing range, his signing would be a real coup for United.

Having said that, the club’s hierarchy also need to focus on handing a new midfielder to Amorim and should definitely explore the possibility of signing Atalanta star Ederson, who possesses both technical and physical prowess to improve the side’s midfield.
