United plotting blockbuster swoop for Real Madrid star facing uncertain future under Ancelotti – report

Manchester United are reportedly one of a number of top English clubs eyeing Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, with his future at the Santiago Bernabeu far from certain.

United are believed to be keen on midfield signings in an effort to bolster Ruben Amorim’s options in the middle of the park.

Before he joined Madrid in 2022 from AS Monaco, United were linked to Tchouameni but he snubbed them in favour of sealing a switch to the reigning La Liga champions.

Despite winning several major honours, Tchouameni has struggled to consistently live up to his true potential and on multiple occasions in the past, reports have suggested that Madrid might be willing to entertain offers for him.

Now-sacked manager Erik ten Hag was believed to want Tchouameni but needless to say, a transfer never got over the line.

According to Fichajes, Madrid are ready to offload the Frenchman, with the club already plotting to sign his replacement.

“[Real Madrid] believe that the Frenchman has not managed to establish himself either in his natural position or in the central role, which he has occupied recently due to the absences in defence, leaving doubts about his contribution to Carlo Ancelotti’s system.”

“The midfielder’s inconsistent performances have led the coaching staff to reconsider his place in the squad. Although he arrived as a promising midfield leader of the future, his performance has fallen short of expectations, and the board sees his sale as an opportunity to strengthen a key position.”

“Premier League clubs such as Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have all shown interest in Tchouaméni, which could facilitate his exit at a price that allows for immediate reinvestment.”

Los Blancos’ plan is to use the money gained from Tchouameni’s sale to sign a midfielder who can guarantee control in the midfield and help them maintain their dominance both domestically and in Europe.

Tchouameni has made 15 top-flight appearances this term and has yet to register a goal or an assist.

United are back in action on Sunday when they face Arne Slots Liverpool at Anfield. Kick-off is at 16:30 GMT.
