United coach gives Amorim green light to finally unleash insanely talented youngster

Manchester United Under-21 boss Travis Binnion has given a big seal of approval to Ruben Amorim’s plan for talented youngster Shea Lacey. Lacey on brink of first-team debut Undoubtedly one of the brightest talents currently emerging out of United’s famed academy, Lacey finally seems poised to get his big break with the first team. Since his appointment as Erik ten Hag’s replacement, Amorim has regularly invited Lacey to train with the senior squad. Amorim is believed to be an avid admirer of the 18-year-old, who has previously drawn comparisons to Manchester City star Phil Foden and United icon Wayne Rooney. Lacey has been on the bench for United’s most recent Premier League games against Everton and Crystal Palace. He hasn’t got a taste of the action yet but it seems to only be a matter of time, especially with attacking duo Amad and Bryan Mbeumo set to link up with their respective countries for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament later this month. Ahead of United’s meeting with West Ham on Thursday evening, Amorim told reporters that Lacey is “ready to play.” Lacey’s increased involvement with the first team saw him miss out on an appearance for the United Under-21 side as they fell to a 4-1 loss at the hands of Anderlecht in the Premier League International Cup. But Binnion remains convinced that Lacey being with the first team is currently the best thing for his development. Binnion agrees with Amorim on Lacey Binnion told United media [as quoted by the BBC], “Training with first team is massive.” “Shea is going through a period now where that is more important than games.” “The previous month, the games were important to get that body of matches and build his confidence.” United vs. West Ham kicks off at 8pm.
