CL giants pushing to sign incredibly talented United winger, Jason Wilcox is desperate to keep him – report

Barcelona have had great success with the signing of Manchester United academy graduate, Marcus Rashford. The Blaugrana signed Rashford on a season-long loan last summer. The prolific winger has bagged six goals and nine assists in 19 appearances across all competitions. Barca have the option of retaining Rashford permanently for a fee in the region of €30m. The hierarchy at Camp Nou are yet to make a final decision on the Englishman’s future. However, they have set their sights on another Carrington gem.  Barcelona enter race to sign JJ Gabriel According to The Sun, Barcelona are trying to sign United teenage sensation JJ Gabriel. The 15-year-old is regarded as a generational talent and has been dubbed as “kid Messi” after grabbing plenty of eyeballs with his mesmerising ball control and dribbling.  Gabriel has scored ten goals in ten games for the Under-18s, including a hat-trick against Liverpool, this season. In October, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Real Madrid are also interested in Gabriel. The Sun journalist Samuel Luckhurst says Barcelona are “stepping up efforts” to sign the United prodigy. However, the Premier League giants are not going to lose their academy jewel without a fight. Man United determined to keep hold of Gabriel United director of football Jason Wilcox played an influential role in convincing Gabriel to stay at United this season and next term. His involvement reportedly showed Gabriel’s family “how much they value the forward and there is confidence they will keep him.” Further, Gabriel has been handed several opportunities to train with the senior side, and head coach Ruben Amorim has held a separate meeting with him and his camp.  The United starlet will be eligible to sign his first professional contract in 2027.
