Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund copying his iconic ‘siu’ celebration in front of him.
Hojlund pulled out Ronaldo’s trademark celebration after scoring Denmark’s late winner in their Nations League first-leg quarter-final clash on Thursday evening.
The United No.9 came on as a substitute and found the back of the net 12 minutes from time, converting a pass from Andreas Skov Olsen.
After the final whistle, Hojlund insisted that the celebration was a tribute to Ronaldo, whom he considers his footballing hero. Hojlund shut down any suggestions that he was mocking the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
The 22-year-old had previously been open in his admiration for Ronaldo when growing up, revealing that he even became a United because of the Portuguese.
Now, Ronaldo has confirmed he has no issue with Hojlund copying his celebration.
During a press conference on Saturday, the Al Nassr man was asked whether he deemed Hojlund’s action to be offensive.
The 40-year-old answered [via Fabrizio Romano on X], “Højlund doing my celebration is not a problem. I know it wasn’t out of disrespect.”
“I understand that not only him, but in all sports, there are people who celebrate like me.”
Ronaldo concluded, “I hope that tomorrow he’ll be the one to see me celebrate!”

The Selecao are set to host Denmark in the second leg of their Nations League tie in Lisbon on Sunday night, and it’s shaping up to be an interesting one.
Ronaldo said about Portugal’s prospects of turning the tie around, “I have lost games in 90 minutes, but I have never lost in the first half. Tomorrow is the second half.”
“There are games like that, there are bad days. I didn’t play at all, the team didn’t play at all, but it’s part of life.”
