Team news: Hojlund and Yoro to start
Thursday 26 December 2024 16:15
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has made two changes for the Reds’ Boxing Day match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
We travel to Molineux aiming to respond to last Sunday’s home defeat to Bournemouth, in our penultimate fixture of 2024.
The headline news from Amorim’s selection is that Leny Yoro replaces Tyrell Malacia, while Rasmus Hojlund returns to the line-up in place of Joshua Zirkzee.
The former change was made at half-time of our last game, against Bournemouth, when Amorim introduced Yoro for the second half. Hojlund also came on in the second period of that game. Now both have the opportunity to start.
There is positive news on the bench, meanwhile, where Matthijs de Ligt is available after a short spell of illness.
The Netherlands international has not played since the Manchester derby, and was absent from the matchday squads for our Carabao Cup quarter-final at Tottenham and the aforementioned league meeting with Bournemouth.
Marcus Rashford is not listed among our options on the bench, with Antony, Garnacho and Zirkzee available should Amorim require any attacking switches.
UNITED LINE-UP
Starting XI: Onana; Yoro, Maguire, Martinez; Mazraoui, Mainoo, Ugarte, Dalot; Amad, Fernandes (c); Hojlund.
Substitutes: Bayindir, De Ligt, Evans, Eriksen, Casemiro, Collyer, Garnacho, Antony, Zirkzee.
