Manchester United’s window started well with the signing of Matheus Cunha but has soured lately as the Bryan Mbeumo deal continues to drag on.
The Red Devils are also keen to bring in a striker this summer but their options seem to be decreasing by the day.
Victor Gyokeres is very close to signing for Arsenal while Victor Osimhen is edging closer to a move to Galatasaray.
United have been linked to forwards such as Hugo Ekitike, Ollie Watkins and Moise Kean but they don’t seem to have pinpointed a particular target to follow as of yet.
Dusan Vlahovic drama
Another potential option is Juventus striker Vlahovic who failed to agree a reduced salary at the club.
It has been reported that the player would be very open to a switch to the Premier League and United.
He has even threatened to run down his contract at the club that expires next season.
Vlahovic sets demands to leave club
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, “the situation surrounding Vlahovic’s future at Juventus remains compromised with the Serbian demanding a generous severance package to leave the club.”
Consequently, “the relationship between the Serbian striker and the Bianconeri is now at loggerheads, and we’ve reached a point of no return.”
Vlahovic earns €12 million a year with his contract ending next season, which is causing a huge “obstacle” for Juventus.
Problematically, he “has no intention of giving up the money on his contract. A meeting is scheduled for the coming days between general manager Damien Comolli and the Serbian’s agents, who will reiterate their position, demanding €10 million for Vlahovic to leave (specifically, €5 million for themselves and €5 million for their client).”
It is stated that Juventus will try and stand firm and not “give in” to his demands but they may have no choice to not risk paralysing the rest of their window.
Jadon Sancho ramifications
United could also be affected by this situation as Juventus are currently very close to agreeing a deal to sign Sancho from the Red Devils.
A report came out that everything “was settled” between the two clubs but United will be hoping that Juventus were not banking on Vlahovic’s exit to fund a deal for the England international.
