Sheffield Wednesday have been dealt a hammer blow in their bid to retain Manchester United loanee Harry Amass, a new update has revealed. Wednesday hope to keep Amass Amass has enjoyed a fruitful loan spell since joining Wednesday during the summer transfer window. The Owls have endured a turbulent time both on and off the pitch but that hasn’t affected Amass, who has consistently produced good performances and made himself an indispensable player under Henrik Pedersen. United and Wednesday initially agreed that Amass would stay at Hillsborough until January. Due to Wednesday’s financial constraints, United have been covering the full costs of the loan, including Amass’ wages. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United and the Championship club have been in talks over an extension as they have no interest in recalling Amass and disrupting his progress. However, the Red Devils are eager for certain terms to be revised. Pedersen recently expressed confidence that Amass would not leave Wednesday when the winter window commences. However, according to the BBC, it’s far from certain that the England youth international will stay at Wednesday – a reality Pedersen’s side now fully recognise, leaving them increasingly uncertain about retaining him. Wednesday suffer Amass setback Simon Stone of the BBC reports, “United are still discussing which players are likely to spend the second half of the season on loan.” “That includes full-back Harry Amass, who has had an excellent stint at Sheffield Wednesday.” “The Owls are keen to keep Amass but know there is huge interest in the 18-year-old and are uncertain whether he will remain at Hillsborough beyond the end of the month.” The identity of the clubs keeping an eye on Amass is unclear at this stage. The 18-year-old and Wednesday are back in action on Saturday when they go away to Blackburn Rovers.
