Roy Keane cheekily suggests United should make astonishing move for Manchester City superstar

Manchester United’s disastrous campaign has left new head coach Ruben Amorim facing a huge summer overhaul before he enters his first full season in the hot seat at Old Trafford.

United are in need of upgrades in virtually every position across the first team squad and the rumour mill is in overdrive with potential new arrivals who will hope to kick start Amorim’s revolution.

Outside of Bruno Fernandes, creativity has been a big issue for United this season and Amorim will no doubt be desperate to add quality attacking players to his current misfiring crop.

As reported by The Mirror, former captain Roy Keane has cheekily suggested there could be a player fitting the bill who is leaving their noisy neighbours this summer.

Kevin de Bruyne recently announced he is leaving Manchester City at the end of the campaign and Keane joked he might be tempted to swap blue for red.

Keane and Shay Given were discussing the Belgian’s future after City’s last gasp win against Aston Villa last night, with Given admitting the 33-year-old still has a lot to offer and could yet be open to staying in the Premier League.

Keane then cut in and offered his advice to the City legend.

“United? He wouldn’t have to move house,” he quipped.

Naturally, any move from City to United comes with huge repercussions, let alone for one of the greatest players to play for either of the Manchester giants.

De Bruyne’s future is likely to lie away from the Premier League and Europe all together with the MLS and Saudi Pro League favourite destinations for the City star.

United, meanwhile, will continue their work on realistic targets in what is arguably the biggest transfer window in modern times for the club.

With a lowest ever Premier League finish now guaranteed, new minority owners INEOS are under pressure to deliver after a rocky start to their tenure.

Having joined mid-season, Amorim has also struggled to get his ideas across to his players and results have suffered badly as a consequence.

Both Amorim and INEOS have the spotlight firmly on them going into the summer and beyond but will be hoping the upcoming market will prove to be the catalyst for a fruitful new era at Old Trafford.
