Report: Man United plot £105m double raid for Bruno & Maguire replacements

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing moves for Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande and Athletic Club midfielder Oihan Sancet.

The Premier League giants revamped their attack last summer by recruiting Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, while also bringing in Senne Lammens to replace Andre Onana between the sticks.

Therefore, Man Utd will be looking to address their other departments in the upcoming transfer campaigns.

According to Fichajes, the Red Devils have set their sights on Diomande and Sancet, two players highly admired by Amorim.

The 21-year-old started his career in his home country of the Ivory Coast before being poached by Midtjylland in 2022, and was then sold to the Lisbon-based giants in January 2023.

The Adbijan native has a release clause worth £70 million, but his market value is believed to be around £44 million.

Diomande could be a replacement for Harry Maguire, who, despite his recent heroics, is out of contract at the end of the season. While the Englishman is open to penning a new deal, he would have to accept a pay cut.

Should Man Utd replace Bruno Fernandes with Sancet?Like Diomande, Sancet has been on MUFC’s shortlist for quite some time now. He is an attacking midfielder who has been playing his football at Bilbao since the start of his career. The 25-year-old is considered one of the best creative forces in LaLiga.

The Spaniard has made 202 appearances for Athletic’s first team, scoring 43 goals in the process, and providing 18 assists.

The source estimates his value at circa £61 million, while identifying him as the potential heir for Bruno Fernandes, whose future at Man Utd remains up in the air, especially amid interest from Saudi and European giants alike.

Nevertheless, one might imagine that United would prefer to pursue a central midfielder if they were to part ways with their captain, since he’s been playing in the double pivot since the start of the season to make room for Cunha, Mbuemo and Mason Mount.
