Manchester United have reportedly registered their interest in Barcelona bomber Robert Lewandowski, who could become a free agent in the summer.
The 37-year-old has been plying his trade in Catalunya since making the move from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022. Despite his advanced playing age and recent struggles with injuries, he still managed to score four goals in his nine appearances across all competitions this season.
Last year, Barca boss, Fansi Flick, described Lewandowski as the ‘best striker in the world’, but it remains to be seen if the German boss and the club hierarchy will offer him a new contract.
Man United set sights on Robert Lewandowski
According to Sport, the Blaugrana will most likely opt against keeping Lewandowski beyond the summer, opening the door for Man Utd to pounce on the situation.
The Catalans may want to free up some space on the wage bill, and replace the veteran with a younger striker, who might well be Marcus Rashford.
The Englishman is currently on loan from Manchester United, but Barcelona have the option to buy him at the end of the season for £30 million.

As Sky Sports previously mentioned, Rashford would boost his chances of sealing a permanent switch to Barcelona if he proves capable of filling the centre-forward role competently.
While the 27-year-old has often been playing on the left side, he has been able to register remarkable stats this season, scoring five goals and providing six assists in his 12 appearances in all competitions.
Marcus Rashford’s pivotal role in Man Utd’s Lewandowski pursuit
Rashford has particularly displayed his clinical touch in the Champions League this term, scoring fabulous braces against Newcastle United and Olympiacos.
Hence, with the Man Utd loanee delivering the goods in front of goal, perhaps Barcelona wouldn’t be too reluctant to part ways with Lewandowski at the end of the season.
| Lewandowski’s stats per club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Barcelona | 156 | 105 | 20 |
| Bayern Munich | 375 | 344 | 73 |
| Borussia Dortmund | 187 | 103 | 42 |
| Lech Poznan | 82 | 41 | 19 |
| Znicz Pruszkow | 32 | 21 | 1 |
This would present the Red Devils with the perfect opportunity to poach the striker’s services on a free transfer. After all, Sport insists that the experienced centre-back has prioritised a move to another European club above all exotic destinations.
The source adds that United have already contacted Lewandowski, as they believe he’d be tempted to play in the Premier League next season.
However, unless the Old Trafford outfit secures European football next term, there won’t be enough room for both Lewandowski and Benjamin Sesko.
