Ruben Amorim’s surprise reaction was caught on camera, mere hours after confirmation of his sacking as Manchester United head coach. Amorim dismissed On Monday morning, David Ornstein of The Athletic made the bombshell revelation that United had made the decision to relieve Amorim of his duties. Ornstein noted that United Under-18s boss Darren Fletcher will take charge of the first team ahead of the meeting at Burnley later this week. Soon after Ornstein’s report, United released an official statement, indeed confirming that Amorim has been let go. United said that the decision was made in the best interests of the team, in an effort to give them the best possible chance to finish as high as possible in the Premier League this season. This comes amidst claims that there were rising tensions between Amorim and the United hierarchy, chiefly director of football Jason Wilcox. It’s understood that Wilcox was sceptical of Amorim’s tactics and perceived inflexibility. For his part, Amorim was upset about what he believed were broken transfer promises at the beginning of January. Amorim’s fiery outburst in the aftermath of Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Leeds at Elland Road proved to be the final nail in the coffin for the Portuguese. As the fanbase comes to terms with this drastic development, a photo of Amorim has surfaced, in which the 40-year-old is seen smiling. Amorim’s reaction Steven Railston of the Manchester Evening News has published the picture, which can be seen below. In the Premier League, Amorim recorded the worst win percentage (32%), the highest rate of goals conceded per game (1.53), and the lowest clean sheet rate (15%) of any United manager in history.
