No-nonsense “monster” defender finally breaks his silence on United transfer links

Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae has insisted he has no desire to seek a move this summer, amidst links to the Premier League and Manchester United.

United are gearing up for a busy transfer window, with a number of positions in urgent need of strengthening. With Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof set to depart upon the expiry of their contracts in June, the defensive department is an area the club could look to bolster.

Ruben Amorim has remained committed to his preferred 3-4-3 formation, which places a strong emphasis on defensive stability, a factor United must be cautious of so as not to themselves short in numbers at the back.

The Red Devils continue to be linked to Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and recently, it was stated that Kim Min-jae is also back on their radar.

United of course tried to sign Kim back in 2023 when he was at Napoli, but he opted to move to Bayern instead. His stint in Bavaria has been mixed.

While he has delivered some standout performances and formed a strong partnership with Dayot Upamecano, he has also been guilty of costly errors, particularly in the Champions League.

The report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United could reignite their interest in the South Korean and make another attempt to secure his signature.

However, the 28-year-old has revealed he is currently not planning on parting ways with Bayern.

Kim told German news outlet SportBild, “For me, there’s no reason to leave.”

“I hope I can stay. But we’ll see, I just want to be fit next season.”

Valued at £40m, Kim has been capped 69 times by his nation. In Italy, he was widely considered to be one of the best defenders in Europe. His no-nonsense style of play earned him the name “the Monster.”

He has made 43 appearances across all competitions this season, helping Bayern keep 18 clean sheets. He has also scored three goals in that period.
