Blackburn Rovers have reportedly made an opening offer of £500,000 for Manchester United youngster Dan Gore but it is expected to be rejected.
Gore, 20, is currently on loan at Rotherham United after recovering from a foot injury which ruled the midfielder out for nearly three months, forcing him to return to Old Trafford for rehabilitation.
Gore returned to South Yorkshire in April to help Rotherham’s finish to the League One season with two games of the campaign remaining.
And the 20-year-old played in Sunday’s fixture against Stevenage, coming off the bench to help his adopted side play out a 1-1 draw.
The Peoples Person relayed a report earlier this week that Gore was on the “radar” of Blackburn ahead of a potential summer swoop, though a “host of clubs” are believed to be interested in the skilful youngster.
But now RoversXtra – a source with close ties to Ewood Park – contend the Rovers are hoping to win the race for Gore by submitting an opening offer to their Old Trafford counterparts worth £500,000.

There is acceptance this this proposal will not be accepted by United and that it constitutes a “starting offer” with the potential to go higher.
Gore is highly-rated within the academy at Old Trafford but a combination of expensive midfield signings in recent years, such as Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte, and the 20-year-old’s desperate misfortune with injuries have impeded his progress at his boyhood club.
As such, the Red Devils are likely to be willing to listen to offers for a permanent exit for Gore, if a suitable proposal arrives.
Gore’s status an academy player means his potential sale would constitute ‘pure profit’ from a PSR perspective ahead of an important summer for United where every penny will count as the club overhauls Ruben Amorim’s first-team squad.
Therefore, while Blackburn’s initial offer may be rejected, if the Championship side return with an improved figure – as is expected – then United may be tempted to cash in on their academy starlet.
