Milan “expected” to give United extremely disappointing news on Rashford, it’s not what they wanted to hear – report

AC Milan are reportedly adamant they will not cover anything above half of Marcus Rashford’s huge £325,000-a-week wages.

Rashford is looking increasingly likely to be on his way out of United after admitting last month that he is ready for a new challenge.

The Red Devils are believed to be prepared to listen to offers for him, with the forward attracting interest from both within England and abroad.

Some of the teams mentioned to be keen on landing Rashford, at least on an initial loan basis, include Juventus, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham Hotspur and Milan.

It’s understood that Rashford was presented with multiple lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League but he turned them all down in favour of continuing to ply his trade in a top European league.

It recently emerged that Rashford’s agent and brother Dwaine Maynard jetted to Milan to hold talks with the Rossoneri over a move to the San Siro. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that Sérgio Conceição’s side have proposed a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

David Ornstein revealed that United would want any suitor for Rashford to cover a large portion of his salary and now, The Times have given an update on Milan’s stance on this issue.

According to the newspaper, “AC Milan are expected to tell Manchester United that they will only pay half of Marcus Rashford’s wages during any potential loan spell.”

“Whether Rashford leaves before the transfer window closes depends on the parameters that United place on the deal. They are almost certain to demand a loan fee for the 27-year-old, who only two years ago scored 30 goals in a season.”

“Milan’s highest-paid player, Álvaro Morata, is thought to earn around £150,000 a week before tax.
If United lower their demands, their chances of loaning Rashford out will increase but the money they receive from the loan would decrease.”

The Times add that the only way United will be able to make signings this month is by selling some of the players in the squad.

Rashford has three years left on his terms at Old Trafford.
