Manchester United and Newcastle are reportedly eyeing a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lee Kang-in.
Kang-in joined PSG in 2023 from Mallorca in a deal worth around €22 million. He has proven himself to be a valued member of the squad, especially impressing with his versatility on the pitch.
In addition to plying his trade in the middle of the park, Kang-in can also be deployed across the front three positions. He can even play as a full-back.
He finished his first season in the French capital with an impressive five goals and five assists to his name. This term, he has already bettered this goal tally with six, although he so far only registered two assists.
While he has featured severally under Luis Enrique, Kang-in has not always been a guaranteed starter and according to Fichajes, the 23-year-old is open to a new challenge away from PSG.
Fichajes state that United and Newcastle are interested in Kang-in and have even explored the possibility of getting a deal over the line.
“The future of Kang-In Lee could lie in the Premier League, as both Manchester United and Newcastle United have shown interest in signing the South Korean attacking midfielder from Paris Saint-Germain.”
“Despite his young age, the 23-year-old player has showcased his quality at PSG, leading to a competitive transfer market. The French club is willing to negotiate but demands around 40 million euros to let him go, a figure being evaluated by the two English clubs.”
“Both teams have made initial inquiries, but it remains uncertain if they will be willing to meet PSG’s 40 million demands.”
It’s understood that United’s interest in Kang-in is drawn from the uncertainty over the future of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.
Journalist Ben Jacobs notes that Arsenal are also admirers of Kang-in but PSG “have no plans to sanction an exit.”

It’s been suggested that the Gunners could look to negotiate a loan with an option to buy the player.
