Rasmus Hojlund has conceded he is no longer wanted by Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford and is ready to negotiate a move to AC Milan.

According to Samuel Luckhurst in the Manchester Evening News this morning, the Manchester United frontman is now ‘open’ to a summer switch to the San Siro amid growing ‘confidence’ that a deal can be struck between all parties.

This comes after Hojlund, on numerous occasions, publicly expressed his desire to stay and fight for a starting spot in Manchester next season – before the club finalised the signing of his direct replacement, Benjamin Sesko.

As a result, Amorim is satisfied with the attacking options at his disposal and believes there’s no reason for Hojlund to stick around, leaving the Dane among a handful of Reds who’ve all been deemed surplus to requirements.

His lacklustre return in the Premier League last season (four goals in 32 appearances) means United will have to take a substantial loss on the £64 million they forked out for him two years ago.

Reports have suggested that Milan would be open to paying an initial £4m loan fee to sign Hojlund, 22, for the entirety of 2025/2026, after which they would have the option of making his move permanent for £39m.

However, it’s likely United will want to include an obligation-to-buy clause as opposed to an option. Otherwise, they risk being in a similar predicament this time next year of struggling to find suitors for their underperforming players.

After Hojlund, INEOS have work to do to sanction outgoings

INEOS will be hoping an agreement for the striker’s departure can be wrapped up relatively swiftly, unlike his exiled teammates Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho, who are all expected to leave before the window closes but are failing to advance with any interested teams.

Of the wantaway quartet, Garnacho is the most probable to exit next after setting his sights on a move to Stamford Bridge.
