Sales are the order of the day for Manchester United in the final days of the transfer window. The Red Devils still have a number of players in the squad like Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho who are no longer a part of the project.
These players are nowhere near Ruben Amorim’s plans for the first team. Antony and Sancho already spent last season out on loan while Garnacho fell out with the Portuguese tactician after the Europa League final loss against Tottenham.
Now, it looks like Man Utd are closing in on moving out both Alejandro Garnacho and Antony. The former is set to leave for Chelsea this summer after a summer full of negotiations for a transfer fee of around £40m.
Meanwhile, Real Betis are negotiating to re-sign Antony on loan after his successful stint at the club in the second half of last season. However, the Conference League runners-up won’t be signing him permanently this summer.
Not much immediate profit from Antony
The La Liga club are keen on signing him for a loan fee of around £3m and an obligation to buy him next summer for £33m. Although it is not an immediate profit for Man Utd, but they are able to get his wages off the books.
Antony and Garnacho are both talented players who have showcased their quality in the past. However, things aren’t working out in a Red Devils jersey for either player and making a clean break would be the best solution for all parties.
Garnacho will still remain in the Premier League. A move to Chelsea could benefit or harm him, depending on how important he emerges under Enzo Maresca but he has the talent to succeed and become a star player.
On the other hand, Antony would love to return to Betis, where he had such a massive impact last season. He would be hoping to recapture the same form in an important World Cup year and only time will tell how it plays out.
