Man Utd are among the teams weighing up an approach for Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, according to reports in the Italian media. Tuttosport claim that the Red Devils are vying with Galatasaray for the Dutchman, who has been capped 27 times by his country. Koopmeiners joined Juve from Atalanta for nearly €60m in the summer of 2024, but it looks like he could be on the market for half that amount in the next transfer window. With his club looking to balance the books, Tuttosport say that the 28-year-old is deemed “expendable”, although they won’t offload him for less than €30m (£26m) as they need to avoid making an operating loss from his departure. Koopmeiners is a cheap option It is believed that Director of Football Jason Wilcox wants to bring in at least two central midfielders this summer, and that could increase to three if Manuel Ugarte is sold. Due to budgetary constraints, the club will need to bring in some players for lower prices, and Koopmeiners’ availability for a decent fee would be seen as a market opportunity. This season, the Netherlands international has not been a regular starter, but he is very adaptable, having been deployed as a centre-back, as a no.6, a no.8 and a no.10. Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni has emerged as a potential contender in recent days. The Frenchman is high on the shortlist of targets, along with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson. It does appear, however, that the likes of Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton are no longer deemed priorities. Want more news on Man Utd?
