Man United are reportedly ‘ready to offer’ Kobbie Mainoo in a swap deal with Real Madrid to sign Federico Valverde.
The Red Devils managed to get back to winning ways over the weekend with a 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday.
It wasn’t the best performance from Ruben Amorim‘s side, but they secured the three points either way. United will now get a week’s rest before facing Brentford in their next Premier League game.
One of the players who did feature against Chelsea was midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, but continuing the theme, he didn’t start for United. Amorim’s reluctance to start Mainoo is reportedly pushing him away, as the midfielder requested a loan move in the summer transfer window, a request which United denied.
It means that heading into January, Mainoo may be looking for a move away from Old Trafford, where he can get more game time, and it seems that United are more willing to sell him than before, according to a recent transfer development from Spain.
Man United ‘ready’ to swap Mainoo for Valverde
In somewhat of an ambitious move, Man United are reportedly preparing an offer which would see Kobbie Mainoo move to Real Madrid, plus a fee of £44m, in order to sign Federico Valverde, who is considered as one of the best holding midfielders in the world.
According to Real Madrid news site Defensa Central, United are hoping to tempt Real Madrid into a deal, with the lure of Mainoo, who is one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe. It would be a transfer that would help solve Mainoo’s desire to move, and also provide Man United with a solution to their midfield problems in Valverde.
The Uruguayan midfielder made 59 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid last year, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists. It is understood that Madrid don’t want to sell the 27-year-old, but their stance could change if they are tempted by Mainoo in a swap.
