Man Utd ‘very keen’ to land Serie A star in January hailed as ‘one of the best in the world’

Manchester United are reportedly aiming to bolster their left flank, and they’re once again looking at the Italian top flight, identifying Federico Dimarco as the ideal solution.

The Red Devils primarily focused on revamping their attacking ranks in the summer, recruiting Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, before signing Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens on deadline day.

Nevertheless, the other departments remained mostly intact, and this includes the wingback roles, where the only addition was Diego Leon, a Paraguayan teenager who was already bought last January.

Manchester United interested in Federico Dimarco

This season, Patrick Dorgu has been Ruben Amorim’s ultimate first choice for the left wingback role. While the young Dane hasn’t disappointed, some feel that Man Utd need a more experienced and accomplished profile in this position.

According to Il Napolista, MUFC are keeping close tabs on Dimarco, a 27-year-old Italian international who has been a regular starter for club and country over the past few years. Amorim is said to be ‘very keen’ on signing the player.

The Milan native is a youth product of Inter who underwent several loan spells before finally earning his place with the Nerazzurri in the 2021/22 season.

Since then, he has been a devastating force on the left flank thanks to his explosive style and jaw-dropping strikes. He has thus far contributed with 19 goals and 35 assists in his 195 appearances for the Serie A giants.

Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos has gone on to identify the Italian as one of the best left-backs in the world.

Would Inter Milan consider selling Dimarco

As the source explains, Dimarco is no longer untouchable at Inter following the departure of his mentor Simone Inzaghi, as Christian Chivu is a fan of Carlos Augusto.

Moreover, his contract will expire in the summer of 2027, so Inter might be open to selling him in January 2026 before his market value takes a hit.

Nevertheless, it should be noted that Dimarco is a fan favourite among Inter supporters thanks to his affiliation with the club’s ultras, which dates back to his childhood, so the Nerazzurri might be reluctant to sell him for fear of sparking riots amongst their die-hard supporters.
