Lewis Hall: Where Man Uniteds pursuit of Newcastle defender stands

Manchester United could turn Newcastle United’s summer from bad to worse.

The Magpies find themselves in a difficult situation, having lost a number of high-profile stars, including Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali. Their captain, Bruno Guimarães, is also expected to join Arsenal.

Furthermore, Eddie Howe has also decided to cut ties with the club and is set to be replaced by Matthias Jaissle.

Manchester United considering signing Lewis Hall

Manchester United, meanwhile, have set their sights on Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall.

According to Sky Sports, United are exploring a potential move for Hall.

It is understood that “work has begun to understand how much a deal for the 21-year-old would cost as United assess the options available on the market at left-back.”

United have identified the England international as a potential long-term successor to Luke Shaw. Hall is considered one of the Premier League’s most well-rounded full-backs, having impressed with his technical prowess and work rate.

However, it is thought that Newcastle do not want to sell Hall, who has three years left on his current contract. United may have to offer an astronomical figure to change their stance.

Manchester United ready to sell young left-back

Shaw is currently the only experienced left-back at United, who parted ways with Tyrell Malacia this summer.

Academy left-back Harry Amass is highly rated and enjoyed a promising loan stint at Sheffield Wednesday.

However, United are reportedly prepared to sanction a permanent exit amid interest from Championship clubs in Amass’ services. This development suggests INEOS are determined to bring in a new left-back to Old Trafford.
