James Maddison heaps praise onto the United player “at the heart of everything” in emphatic 4-1 win over Wolves

Manchester United produced an impressive performance to thump Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 on Monday night. Having dropped points in a disappointing draw with West Ham United the previous gameweek, Man United bounced back in a big way to earn a valuable away win that propelled them to sixth place in the Premier League standings. Ultimately, it was a solid team performance all around, although some players stood out more than others, particularly in the eyes of Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison. Fernandes’ impact When asked on Sky Sports what the key to United’s attacking potential was, Maddison bluntly responded: “Bruno [Fernandes] is at the heart of everything. Bruno’s just such a top player.” He even went on to claim, “I actually think he’s probably underrated to many.” “I know he gets a lot of applause anyway, but I still think he is kind of underrated, like for the quality that he shows consistently.” When assessing Fernandes’ entire performance, it’s clear why Maddison feels this way. Reaping the rewards Fernandes really seemed to be everywhere this evening, taking free kicks, corners, and even a successful penalty to seal the 4-1 victory. Overall, he bagged two goals and one assist, proving to be the kind of reliable player who United can count on no matter what. Beyond his individual talent, Fernandes greatly assisted his team from a psychological perspective. In recent times, United have made a habit of losing their lead and, therefore, dropping points. While they lost their lead tonight as well, Fernandes galvanised his team to put in an inspired second-half performance to not only restore but extend their lead, completely knocking Wolves out of the contest. No matter how turbulent the season gets, United fans can rest assured that Fernandes will remain the one constant pillar of reliability in the United squad.
