Manchester United will hold talks with Rasmus Hojlund next week to determine where his future lies beyond the summer window.
While ultimately in the hands of INEOS chiefs, Hojlund has made clear his desire to stay put at Old Trafford and fight for his spot next season following the arrival of centre-forward Benjamin Sesko, who was unveiled to supporters this afternoon prior to kick-off in United’s last pre-season friendly.
Additionally, the Dane is contracted to the club until 2028, meaning he is technically under no obligation to bypass the remainder of his agreement by joining another team.

His decision may be swayed by the prospect of playing a heavily reduced role in the upcoming campaign, however.
After agreeing a whopping £74 million deal to bring Sesko to M16, it’s evident he’ll sit atop the pecking order of strikers, and, given what Joshua Zirkzee can offer in attack and on the ball, there’s a chance he’ll also trump Hojlund in Ruben Amorim’s estimations.
Alas, from United’s perspective, they’re ready to cut ties sooner rather than later, especially since there are options available for the No.9’s departure to materialise in the near future.
Hojlund tipped for AC Milan switch before window closes
AC Milan have established their interest in offering Hojlund a route back to Serie A, where he spent one year with Atalanta and scored nine league goals in 32 appearances.
Italian reporter Matteo Moretto has revealed this afternoon that even though the 22-year-old is reluctant to leave United, he would prefer to complete a permanent exit rather than a season-long loan.
Unfortunately for him, that’s the only transfer Milan can negotiate amidst their precarious financial situation; they, like United, failed to secure European football upon the culmination of 2024/2025.
The San Siro outfit would ideally add Hojlund to their ranks for the whole of 2025/2026, paying a £4.3m fee to get an agreement over the line, before having the option of signing him long-term this time next year for around £34.6m.
