Manchester United have made a big transfer call after being offered the chance to complete the signing of Dusan Vlahovic by the player’s agent.
Vlahovic keen on joining United
United are currently on the hunt for a new striker, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko the leading name on their list.
The Red Devils considered a number of forwards, including Vlahovic and Ollie Watkins before settling on Sesko. The club has already lodged an opening bid for the Slovenian, who is believed to be keen on the prospect of sealing a switch to Old Trafford.
However, with Newcastle also circling around Sesko and Leipzig demanding a hefty sum to sanction his sale, there is a real chance that a deal may not get over the line, hence continued links to the likes of Vlahovic.
Vlahovic has fallen out of favour at Juventus and the Serie A giants are looking to move him on and get his massive wages off their books. He scored 10 goals and provided an additional four assists in 29 top-flight appearances last term.
His best return came during the early days of his Italian career at Fiorentina, for whom he bagged 21 league goals during the 2020/21 campaign. Since swapping La Viola for Juventus, the talisman has scored 58 times in 145 games.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Vlahovic is prepared to rip up his Juve contract and move to United. He has also been mentioned to be on AC Milan’s radar but his club’s demands are holding up the transfer.
Now, a fresh update has been issued, indicating that Vlahovic’s agent approached United to offer his client, and the 20-time English champions responded immediately.
United’s latest stance on Vlahovic
La Gazzetta dello Sport claim, “The Serbian striker, under contract until 2026 and hoping to leave on a free, is still waiting to learn his future, while Juventus are actively looking to find him a new club. AC Milan remain interested, but under conditions that Juventus don’t consider acceptable.”
“In recent hours, his name has resurfaced at Manchester United, with his agents sounding out the English club’s interest in starting negotiations for a move to the Premier League – a destination the striker would welcome. (He already turned down a proposal from Fenerbahçe.)”
“However, United have shown no interest at this time. The English side is looking for a striker. Benjamin Sesko is their top target, but they are not keen on Vlahovic, who remains on the fringes at Juventus.”
La Gazzetta dello Sport add that Vlahovic is currently a back-up option for Juve boss Igor Tudor, who considers new signing Jonathan David his primary striker.
Vlahovic’s situation could worsen even more if Juventus successfully land Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain.
