United determined to sign €100m-rated winger who could push Garnacho out of Amorim’s lineup

    united-determined-to-sign-e100m-rated-winger-who-could-push-garnacho-out-of-amorim’s-lineup

Manchester United are “serious” about signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli, as per reports.

Ruben Amorim deployed Alejandro Garnacho as the left-sided inside forward in his first game in charge of United while Marcus Rashford led the line as the number nine.

United started strongly but failed to put the game to bed as their forwards lacked decisiveness in the final third. Garnacho, in particular, could have done a lot better in many situations. His inability to find his teammates at the right moment thwarted several counter-attacks.

Should Amorim continue to play Rashford through the middle, United might need to sign a new left-sided forward, as the young Argentine forward still needs to work on his decision-making.

And a report suggests the Red Devils are already in the market to strengthen that area of the pitch.

According to Sportmediaset (via Get Italian Football News), United are “serious” for Kvaratskhelia amid Napoli’s struggle to find an agreement with their star player over a new deal.

The Georgian winger, who plays a similar role under Antonio Conte, continues to impress with his goal-scoring and dribbling prowess in Italy. This season he has already scored five goals in Serie A.

Napoli value his presence and want to renew his contract, which is currently due to expire in 2027. But as things stand, there is no agreement between the parties.

It is claimed the Naples based outfit have already proposed a salary of €6 million, bonuses included.

They are not willing to go beyond that figure, but United are ready to offer €3 million more to Kvaratskhelia in their bid to convince him to move to Old Trafford.

Further, the report suggests that if the situation doesn’t change between the club and the player by the end of the season, the Italian giants will consider selling him, demanding a fee of about €100m.

Interestingly, it is added “the feeling is that the Red Devils have enough to lure” the Napoli talisman.

Signing of ‘new Lamine Yamal’ at Man Utd ‘not expected to be finalised until the summer’

Man Utd are expected to seal a €60m (£50m) move for Sporting Lisbon winger Geovany Quenda in the summer, according to reports.

The Red Devils made five signings in the summer transfer window as they looked to give Erik ten Hag their full support after deciding to keep him on over the summer.

Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui all joined before the end of the summer market but they have yet to have the impact the Man Utd hierarchy and fans were hoping.

Ten Hag was sacked after winning just three of the Red Devils’ opening nine Premier League matches with Amorim replacing him at the beginning of November.

Man Utd interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy added another four points to their Premier League total before leaving the club last week.

And Amorim grabbed his first point in his first match in a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Sunday with an Omari Hutchinson strike cancelling out a second-minute opener from Marcus Rashford.

There has already been plenty of speculation over potential new signings at Old Trafford now Amorim has taken over with worries about how the Man Utd players will fit into his 3-4-3 formation.

Predictably, a number of his former Sporting Lisbon stars have been linked with a move to Man Utd ahead of the January transfer window.

There is unlikely to be a lot of money available for the Red Devils to bring in players mid-season but they have more chance of spending big in the summer.

And reports in Spain, referring to Quenda as the ‘new Lamine Yamal’, claim that Man Utd ‘signs him’ for €60m as the Red Devils look to ‘strengthen its squad’.

The report adds that Man Utd ‘appear to have found their next big thing’ and if a deal happens in January then Quenda ‘would finish the season in Portugal before moving to Old Trafford’.

New Red Devils boss Amorim ‘would be delighted to have one of his favourite pupils back’ after the 17-year-old became ‘a key player in his 3-4-3 formation’.

Man Utd are hoping that ‘the connection with Amorim could tip the balance’ in their favour ‘while the transfer is not expected to be finalised until the summer’.

The signing of Quenda would reaffirm the Red Devils’ ‘commitment to rejuvenating their squad and building a competitive team for the long term.’.

European giants hold talks with 23-yo United star who was criticised by Amorim at Ipswich – report

Juventus have made a contact for Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the winter transfer window, as per reports.

Zirkzee joined United in the summer amid much expectations, having impressed with his hold-up play and technical ability in the final third at Bologna.

However, ever since his arrival, the Dutchman has struggled to adjust to the intensity of the Premier League, leading to limited minutes under Erik ten Hag.

Now, the start under new manager Ruben Amorim has only intensified suggestions of his exit in January.

Amorim started Marcus Rashford as his number nine against Ipswich Town, leaving both Rasmus Hojlund and Zirkzee on the bench. The ex-Bologna man entered the pitch in the 68th minute.

The Portuguese tactician appeared very animated while giving Zirkzee instructions before introducing him. However, after the full-time whistle, Amorim criticised the summer signing for his reluctance to get in the box to receive crosses.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the 23-year-old forward is attracting interest from Juventus, who are in the front row for his services.

The Old Lady are led by Thiago Motta, who got the best out of Zirkzee at Bologna before becoming Juve’s manager.

Motta may have to reshape his attack for the Netherlands striker, but that is unlikely to discourage the Italian giants from pursuing him.

It is claimed that “first contact” has already been made between Juventus and Zirkzee.

Amorim’s desire to play Rashford through the middle as well as presence of Hojlund, who appears more suited to the manager’s system, owing to his pace and physicality, may further frustrate the ex-Bayern Munich man and increase the possibility of an exit, sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, in recent days, United have been linked with a number of strikers, including Sporting CP man Viktor Gyökeres and Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface.

Man Utd insider reveals Amorim ‘priority’ that ‘will be addressed in January’ as four targets are named

          man-utd-insider-reveals-amorim-‘priority’-that-‘will-be-addressed-in-january’-as-four-targets-are-named

Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim has made finding a new striker a “priority” and the issue “will be addressed in January”, according to a club insider.

The Red Devils have had a terrible start to the new Premier League campaign with Man Utd sat 12th in the table after Amorim’s first match in charge against Ipswich on Sunday.

Amorim’s side could only muster a 1-1 draw at Portman Road as they tried out a new 3-4-3 formation under their new head coach.

There are worries that Man Utd do not have the players required to play Amorim’s style of play and tactics with the new Red Devils boss even commenting that Marcus Rashford is perhaps better used out wide than through the middle, where he started the academy graduate on Sunday.

Only Everton, Crystal Palace and Southampton have scored fewer goals in the Premier League than Man Utd this season with Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee scoring four times between them.

And now former Man Utd chief scout Mick Brown has revealed that the Red Devils’ lack of goals “will be addressed in January”.

Brown told Football Insider: “It’s very much considered a weakness in the team. I know there have been questions about whether the strikers, Hojlund or Zirkzee, are up to it.

“Every time they come on, they look like a couple of trialists, not starting strikers for Man United.

“Marcus Rashford, you never know what you’re getting with him. There’s no doubt he’s got the ability to lead the line, but whether he’s got the enthusiasm for it, I don’t know.

“But that’s a part of the team that needs remedying and it’s an area they want to recruit in.

“Everything you do revolves around your front man, so that is going to be their priority.

“Amorim has already identified that as one of the weaknesses in this United team and that became clear in the game against Ipswich and will be addressed in January.”

And Sky Germany have claimed that there are four strikers ‘currently being discussed in Manchester as possible reinforcements in attack’ in the form of Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani.

Kolo Muani is ‘set to leave’ PSG as he continues to be used sparingly with a ‘loan in the winter or even a sale for a top offer are desired’, while Liverpool target Marmoush at Frankfurt is also ‘in United’s sights’ but would cost between €50m and €60m.

Man Utd ‘would have to spend a lot of money’ to convince Leverkusen to sell Boniface in January, while Osimhen – who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli – ‘would probably be the most prominent striker solution for United’ as the Italians are open to offers.

Man Utd are ready to replace summer signing Joshua Zirkzee after just a few months at Old Trafford, according to reports.

The Red Devils have made a terrible start to the new Premier League season with Erik ten Hag getting fired after picking up just three wins from nine matches.

Ruud van Nistelrooy took over as interim boss for a few weeks and managed to put another four points on the board from two Premier League fixtures before Ruben Amorim arrived as the new Man Utd head coach.

Amorim began his reign with a 1-1 draw on the road at Ipswich Town with the point moving them up one place in the Premier League table to 12th.

Only Everton, Southampton and Crystal Palace have scored fewer goals than Man Utd in the Premier League this season with Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Zirkzee struggling to find regular contributions.

And now the Manchester Evening News has revealed that co-owners INEOS and the rest of the Man Utd board have decided Zirkzee – who has been linked with a return to Serie A – is already a ‘lost cause’ just a few months after signing him from Bologna for £37.5m in the summer transfer window.

The report claims: ‘Senior figures at United privately feel Zirkzee is a lost cause. United will need a proven goalscorer next year and someone has to make way.’

Former Man Utd striker Dwight Yorke has been outspoken about the Red Devils frontline and reckons the Premier League club have been “bringing in kids to do a man’s job”.

Yorke said last month: “We’ve asked these young boys to come in and do a man’s job at United. The expectation is really high. Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, these guys are unknown. At United you always had someone you could learn from.

“When I came in, Teddy and Cole, they’d already set the standards. There’s nobody with those standards at United right now. These players are coming in with nobody around them to learn from.

“Unless you bring in an established player, you’re bringing in kids to do a man’s job. They’re still in that learning process until you get to 25 or 26. Then you’ve done your apprenticeship.”

Yorke added: “Of course, there are exceptions like [Erling] Haaland, but we’ve got guys still trying to find their feet at the club, let alone the Premier League. We don’t have that kind of presence up top, to threaten defenders.

“When we used to play, there was always a name like Van Nistelrooy, me, and Wayne Rooney. Defenders don’t look forward to that. Now we’ve got Hojlund and Zirkzee, not household names to give you sleepless nights.

“That’s why United are easy to play against, they don’t pose a threat like they used to. Yes, they’ve got good players. Rashford on his day is as good as anyone else. Amad, who’s a young kid coming in, has looked promising when he’s played.

“Antony is not producing. We’ve got a mixture of everything. We’re all hoping that these guys are going to come to the forefront, but they’re young boys, still learning.”

United make contact with star Serie A midfielder in effort to seal January transfer – report

              united-make-contact-with-star-serie-a-midfielder-in-effort-to-seal-january-transfer-–-report

Manchester United have entered talks with the entourage of Atalanta midfielder Ederson over the possibility of signing him in January.

Back in August, The Peoples Person mentioned that Atalanta reportedly declined a €50 million offer from Man United for the defensive midfielder.

Still, this rejection did not discourage United from continuing in their pursuit, with the club reportedly engaging in fresh internal discussions over the pursuit of Ederson earlier in the week.

Today, it appears as if United are all in when it comes to luring the Brazilian to Old Trafford.

In the early hours of the morning, journalist Rudy Galetti posted on X that contact had been made with the player’s entourage.

🚨🗣️ #ManUtd and #Liverpool recently approached #Ederson‘s entourage to explore the negotiation margins for January.

              — Rudy Galetti (@RudyGaletti) November 25, 2024

“#ManUtd and #Liverpool recently approached #Ederson’s entourage to explore the negotiation margins for January,” Galetti posted. “#ManCity are also in the race for the 🇧🇷 CM.”

“#Atalanta wouldn’t want to lose him in the winter but could evaluate bids (>€50m) for June.”

While the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City would surely make United’s pursuit of Ederson all the more challenging, they are not the only European elites who have been linked with the defensive midfielder.

Aston Villa, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid have all been listed as potential suitors for Ederson.

While United have plenty of depth in the midfield, Ederson could provide plenty of value to the club due to his defensive midfield prowess. The Brazilian has completed 90% of his passing while completing 60% of his total duels. He specifically made great use of his height, winning 75% of his aerial duels. (Sofascore)

Furthermore, there appears to be a gap in United’s midfield that needs filling despite the long list of available midfielders.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are in the later stages of their careers, while Manuel Ugarte has struggled to build momentum since joining United.

Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount are both more attacking-minded midfielders, while Kobbie Mainoo cannot be expected to hold the line on his own.

Although United’s midfield appears well stacked, this is very much a temporary situation, meaning that the arrival of Ederson could provide the club with increased stability at the centre of the park going forward.

Real Madrid eye Endrick swap for Man Utd, Arsenal target ‘destined’ for big-money transfer

                real-madrid-eye-endrick-swap-for-man-utd,-arsenal-target-‘destined’-for-big-money-transfer

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Man Utd and Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres and could tempt Sporting into a swap deal including Endrick.

Gyokeres has scored an extraordinary 49 goals for Sporting in 2024, which is not going unnoticed around Europe.

Ruben Amorim’s move from Sporting to Man Utd, coupled with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund’s struggles, saw links to the Swedish striker accelerate, though it remains to be seen if the Red Devils have the available funds to sign him in January.

Arsenal have also been strongly linked over the last 12 months but Real Madrid have now joined the race.

Real Madrid join Man Utd, Arsenal in Gyokeres transfer hunt

According to reports in Spain, Gyokeres is on Madrid’s ‘radar’ and the La Liga giants are now ‘beginning to study a strategy to get his services’.

Despite the summer signing of Kylian Mbappe, it is claimed that the European champions ‘are looking to rejuvenate and strengthen their attack, especially with players who combine physicality, technique and goalscoring efficiency’, which makes Gyokeres the ‘perfect’ addition.

Sporting will not let their star man go without a fight and will likely tell interested clubs to trigger his 100 million euro (£83.5m) release clause.

Interestingly, it is claimed that Los Blancos ‘could use Endrick’ to tempt Sporting into the sale of Gyokeres.

They will only offer the Brazilian teenager on a loan basis but his arrival could be ‘an attractive formula to convince’ the Portuguese champions.

While landing Gyokeres in January will be tricky, it is claimed that he is ‘desired’ ahead of the winter transfer window and that Sporting are uncertain how long they can keep a player ‘destined for the big European nights’.

Former Man Utd defender Paul Parker thinks the addition of Gyokeres would be “perfect” following Amorim’s arrival as head coach.

“I think it would be amazing if Man United can sign Gyokeres. In my opinion, it would be one of the best possible signings and maybe one of the best signings in recent times in the Premier League.”

“He knows how Amorim wants to play and vice versa. He would be the perfect addition, and also add some competition to Højlund who really needs it, because he hasn’t shown enough yet.”

“Gyokeres would be a top striker in the Premier League.”

Parker added: “I saw a lot of him when he was at Coventry. He was so good, but he has just improved even more since at Sporting.”

“He is a goal scoring machine, and he is arguably one of the best strikers in the world.”

“A lot of us were surprised that Sporting managed to sign him, because other clubs here in England should have been interested, but in the end he joined Sporting, which has been a very good decision.”

Gyokeres could end up at Arsenal, who might finally decide to spend big on a new striker.

Former Gunners defeander Bacary Sagna has boldly told Mikel Arteta to sign the Swede and free agent Paul Pogba.

“I’ve always said that Paul Pogba would be a good addition for Arsenal. I believe he could be an asset to the club.

“With his creativity, having him on a short-term contract would benefit everyone. It would help Paul get back into football and get him back to full fitness and quality.

“I would love Arsenal to sign Viktor Gyökeres, the Swedish striker who plays for Sporting Lisbon. He’s amazing, honestly.

“I didn’t know much about his personality, but after watching him play. Wow! I think he’s amazing.”

Ex-United midfielder wants to return to Old Trafford, Amorim has already given green light – report

                  ex-united-midfielder-wants-to-return-to-old-trafford,-amorim-has-already-given-green-light-–-report

Ruben Amorim is willing to bring back midfielder Angel Gomes to Manchester United, as per reports.

The Englishman made his debut for United in 2017 as a 16-year-old. At the time, he was considered one of the most promising prospects to graduate from the club’s famed academy.

However, doubts over his physicality and role in the first team eventually led to United deciding against handing him a contract extension and Gomes found himself without a club in the summer of 2020 before agreeing to sign for Lille.

At Lille, he found breakthrough under Paulo Fonseca, impressing fans and pundits alike with his ability to retain possession and progress the side’s play from deep. His exploits as a deep-lying playmaker also led to England call-up.

In recent months, the 24-year-old has made several appearances for the Three Lions, and has also found himself on the radar of multiple Premier League clubs.

Earlier this season, United were credited with an interest in Gomes, and now it is being suggested that Amorim is on board with the idea.

According to CaughtOffside, Amorim has given United “the green light” to attempt to re-sign Gomes, having been left convinced with his performances in France.

In his first game as the Red Devils boss, Amorim relied on a double pivot of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. Still, it is fair to assume he would like to add more young and energetic options to his midfield ranks moving forward.

United face competition from a host of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur, for his signature.

However, the England international would favour returning to Old Trafford and is believed to be looking for a three-year contract plus the option of a further year on top of that.

Gomes has entered the final months of his contract at Lille and will become a free agent at the end of the season.

The situation could allow his former club to sign him for a bargain fee in January or secure his signature for nothing in the summer of 2025.

The Mail love to take us ‘inside’ the swanky hotel where Ruben Amorim is staying, as we discover how he REALLY rates his Manchester United players.

Who’s the swanker at the Mail?
As sure as eggs is eggs and night follows day, MailOnline advertise the ‘swanky’ Lowry hotel in Manchester at any given opportunity.

Revealed: The swanky five-star hotel that Man United boss Ruben Amorim has chosen as his new home… with rooms costing up to £4,000 a night!

So, so many issues with that headline – has he ‘chosen’ it or is it Manchester United’s standard issue for new managers? As Jose Mourinho stayed there for over two years, we suspect the latter; it’s not a ‘new home’ if it’s temporary; the room ‘costing up to £4,000 a night!’ is the Presidential Suite and there’s no suggestion that Amorim is staying there – but we’re here to highlight just how often this happens.

(Though we would like to pause for a moment and appreciate a United ‘source’ who does not know how to spell Fernandes (Fernandez) or Ten Hag (Ten Haag)).

(Oh and pause to appreciate an opening line that hails ‘celebrity guests including superstars Rita Ora and Lady Gaga’, which might be the most flattering sentence ever written about one of those women).

Here’s a smattering of the headlines that have appeared on MailOnline:

‘Inside The Lowry Hotel: Block-booked by Manchester United across the season and Jose Mourinho’s temporary home – the five-star football-friendly venue which can cost guests £4,000-a-night’

‘Jose Mourinho has emotional ‘last supper’ with tearful staff at the top Manchester hotel where he stayed for 895 days and racked up a £500,000 bill after he was sacked by Man United’

The ‘United source’ who has spoken to the MailOnline and is absolutely definitely not made up, is quoted as saying: “The Hale and Bowdon area has been mentioned where his captain Fernandez lives and many of the players. It is just a short drive to the training ground.

“He could move into Ten Haag’s old place or even Paul Pogba’s place. But he is in the Lowry for the moment. He has walked round the city a bit and had a coffee in a few of the cafes.”

He ‘could’ move into those two specific houses but he also ‘could’ move into any other vacant property in those areas, or any other area. It’s almost like this particular ‘source’ has no specific information about Amorim’s house-hunting plans.

                    But obviously…

‘Ruben Amorim ‘could move to Ten Hag or Pogba’s old homes’ with Man Utd boss living in hotel with £2000-a-night suite’ – The Sun.

At least they fixed the spelling.

                    The Sun
‘s North West District Editor Richard Moriarty has long had a source inside Manchester United’s dressing-room feeding him exclusives; in the last week alone he’s brought the news that Marcus Rashford has taken up boxing, Ruben Amorim name-checked Fergie while rallying his Manchester United troops and Ruud van Nistelrooy ‘urged Manchester United’s players to get behind new manager Ruben Amorim’.

None of it ground-breaking, none of it explosive, none of it particularly interesting, if we’re honest. And that also applies to his latest exclusive:

RUBEN AMORIM gave Manchester United five out of ten for Sunday’s performance at Ipswich.

Seems fair. Seems reasonable. Amorim has been pretty honest about his team’s failures at Ipswich. And a 1-1 draw against a team battling relegation is a 5/10 kind of result from a 5/10 performance.

Mediawatch has no beef with the story; it feels broadly accurate and it’s pretty harmless. It’s highly unlikely that Amorim would give a flying f*** about anybody knowing about his 5/10 rating. What amuses us is how it is reported elsewhere.

Over to MailOnline for some typical bombast and typical CAPITALS:

Revealed: How Ruben Amorim REALLY rated Man United’s display against Ipswich, with new Red Devils boss ‘giving his players a score out of 10’ after 1-1 draw at Portman Road

How he REALLY rated them? He criticised two players right after the game so it’s hardly like he was disingenuously complimentary and then he’s sneaked off and pointed out that actually, drawing 1-1 at Ipswich is not ideal, actually.

‘Ruben Amorim’s true thoughts about Manchester United’s performance in their 1-1 draw with Ipswich have been revealed’, apparently. Oddly, his ‘true thoughts’ are pretty much exactly the same as those he expressed publicly, almost like he’s a real human.

And then there’s the Express: ‘Ruben Amorim ‘gives Man Utd stars rating out of 10’ as dressing room message ‘leaked”

It’s the sh***est ‘leak’ ever. Football manager thinks below-average performance was below-average shock!

And they have got very carried away: ‘Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is already ripping up the playbook at Old Trafford after a reported dressing room leak revealed he gave out player ratings following their 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.’

Nope. No he didn’t. And you sodding know he didn’t. But there’s that ‘curiosity gap’ and there will be many football fans falling down that gaping hole. See you down there…

                    Please brutality
Ruben Amorim might want to re-think that Manchester United rating when he realises that Danny Murphy was not impressed.

According to the Mirror: ‘Ruben Amorim brutally told that ambitious Manchester United plan ‘won’t work”

First, Murphy never said it ‘won’t work’, but quote marks have long since ceased to mean anything at all. What he did say was this – “I’d be amazed if they were still playing a 3-4-3 in a year’s time” – because he is a keen proponent of the Our League approach to punditry.

Brutal? Only if you’re about seven.

“Bumping into Bruno Fernandes”: Doncaster coach excited about special arrangement with United

                      Finley McAllister of Manchester United

Doncaster Rovers manager Grant McCann has given an update on Manchester United youth team duo Finley McAllister and Malachi Sharpe after their week-long stay away from Carrington.

United and the Rovers agreed to an arrangement that saw young players effectively swap clubs for a short period of time.

McAllister is an 18 year old defensive midfielder who has spent time in the under 18 and under 21 side, providing two assists in six Premier League 2 games this season.

Sharpe on the other hand is an attacking winger who has scored three goals and two assists in seven Premier League 2 matches in this campaign.

Doncaster sent Sam Straughan-Brown and Kasper Williams to Carrington to work with United’s youth team coaches.

Speaking to the Doncaster Free Press, the League Two manager claimed, “we had really good feedback on both of them. Travis (Binnion, United’s under-21s lead coach) spoke to Cliff (Byrne, assistant) and said he was impressed by both the lads. What it did was give both Sam and Kasper a different perspective on what it’s like if you get your head down, work hard and get to that level.”

“Obviously, everybody wants to be at that level don’t they? Lee Glover went up and met them and they’re walking around the place and bumping into Bruno Fernandes and stuff like that. It was great for them but they’re back here now.”

The former Northern Ireland international also elaborated on the benefit for United’s academy starlets.

“It was interesting speaking to the two boys before they left and seeing where they think they’re at in terms of their progression.”

McCann stated that the Rovers got an invaluable insight into how things work at United and that a loan is the next step for Sharpe and McAllister to enhance their career.

He finally stated that numerous clubs were interested in following a similar deal that the Red Devils took part in and concluded, “I think it’s a bonus for us to have that sort of connection.”

Both Sharpe and McAllister could next be in action when United’s under 21s host West Ham United’s youth side this Friday evening.
