Solskjaer rejects chance to manage European club after being called by the chairman – report

    solskjaer-rejects-chance-to-manage-european-club-after-being-called-by-the-chairman-–-report

Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly turned down the opportunity to make a return to the Molde FK dugout.

Solskjaer has been out of work since November 2021, when he was sacked by United following a string of poor performances and results

His last match as United gaffer was a 4-1 loss to Watford.

He spent three years at Old Trafford having returned to the club in 2018 as Jose Mourinho’s replacement – 11 years on from his playing days with the Red Devils.

Last month, Solskajer suggested that he may have retired from football management.

He however insisted that he could be tempted to step into the international stage, with the Norway national team job a role he would fancy, despite the fact he was not actively waiting for it to become available.

According to VG, Solskjaer was approached by his former club Molde over their vacant managerial position.

Molde parted ways with Erling Moe after their cup final loss on Saturday, which confirmed they will miss out on European football next season.

Solskjajer was in charge of Molde between 2011 to 2014 before being reappointed in 2015 for three seasons. It’s from Molde that United secured his services on an initial interim basis.

VG state that Solksjaer was “called” by Molde chairman Leif-Arne Langøy in the immediate aftermath of Moe’s departure.

Solskjaer declined the opportunity, indicating that it was “not appropriate” for him to assume the hot seat.

The Manchester Evening News divulge that the United legend is currently in the process of constructing a house in Kristiansund, an island in Norway.

United defender “at risk of being completely frozen out of the first-team” by Amorim – report

      united-defender-“at-risk-of-being-completely-frozen-out-of-the-first-team”-by-amorim-–-report

Manchester United youngster Harry Amass is reportedly in danger of falling further down the pecking order, with head coach Ruben Amorim intent on dipping into the market for a new left-back.

Amass joined United from Watford last year but is yet to make his senior debut for the club, despite being part of the pre-season tour.

Erik ten Hag spoke glowingly of Amass and it appeared that it was only a matter of time until the youngster made the step-up to the senior team.

The 17-year-old, who has often drawn comparisons to Luke Shaw due to their similar playing style, is believed to be on the radar of a host of Championship clubs that are keen on taking him on loan during the January transfer window.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are also admirers of Amass.

According to GIVEMESPORT, the chances of Amass breaking into the United first-team are not looking too good at the moment due to Amorim’s desire to secure the services of a left-back, who will slot into his preferred 3-4-3 system.

United continue to be linked to the likes of Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth), Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich), Antonee Robinson (Fulham), Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolves), Alvaro Fernandez (Benfica) and Theo Hernandez (AC Milan).

“Manchester United starlet Harry Amass is in serious danger of being pushed further down the pecking order at Old Trafford as head coach Ruben Amorim has set his sights on diving into the transfer market for a fresh left-back option instead of giving the teenager the opportunity to stake a claim for regular action, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.”

“Amass is at risk of being completely frozen out of the first-team picture and having an uphill battle to break into Manchester United’s short-term plans, according to GMS sources, as Amorim is prioritising the addition of a new left-sided full-back ahead of being able to make his first signing since arriving at Old Trafford.”

It’s understood that Amass was hoping to profit from Shaw’s injury troubles but this has yet to happen.

GMS note that United’s coaching staff insist that Amass needs more time to develop before truly making the jump to Amorim’s set-up

Amorim continues to keep an eye on the teenager and there is still a chance that the United head coach will give him a chance to prove himself.

Man Utd ‘open to top offers’ in January for star player as main ‘reason’ given for possible exit

        man-utd-‘open-to-top-offers’-in-january-for-star-player-as-main-‘reason’-given-for-possible-exit

Man Utd are ready to sell Marcus Rashford in the January transfer window with the forward “definitely not unsellable” under Ruben Amorim, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Red Devils have been in terrible form this season with Man Utd currently 13th in the Premier League table after winning just five of their 15 matches.

Erik ten Hag was sacked because of their poor start to the new campaign and Amorim hasn’t done much better in his four Premier League games in charge, drawing one, winning one and losing two.

Man Utd have struggled to score enough goals in the Premier League this season with Rashford on four goals, Joshua Zirkzee on three and Rasmus Hojlund on just two.

Rashford’s overall performances have been particularly frustrating with Roy Keane claiming after the Red Devils’ 1-0 loss against Arsenal that the England international’s “general play as a footballer is shocking”.

And now Sky Germany reporter Plettenberg insists Man Utd “would already be open to top offers in the winter” as they look to raise funds.

Plettenberg wrote on X: “Manchester United would sell Marcus #Rashford at the latest by the summer and would already be open to top offers in the winter. The club acknowledge his development under Ruben #Amorim but consider him definitely not unsellable.

“One reason why a sale is being discussed: if he were to leave the club due to his very high salary, it would free up critical points in the complicated Financial Fair Play system, which, in turn, would give the Red Devils more room to maneuver in the transfer market. 27 y/o with a contract until 2028. #MUFC”

Gary Neville recently criticised Man Utd forward Rashford for travelling to Madison Square Garden in New York to watch an NBA match between New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets during the international break.

Neville said on the Stick to Football podcast: “The professionalism, looking after your body and making sure you’re best prepared for the next training session is critical to every decision you make during the season.

“This is on Casemiro more than Rashford but if I’m [over] 30 years old and I’m looking after my body – and he’s won five Champions Leagues and is an unbelievable player, but if he was away with Brazil for 10 days, we would say he would struggle this weekend because he’s been away.

“They [Casemiro and Marcus Rashford] have chosen that international break. If you are talking about the minor details in being as professional as you can be and as prepared you can be for a training session on a Monday night, that isn’t the best choice of venue.

“I’m not that wound up about [Marcus] Rashford and Casemiro going over to the United States but what I’m asking is, if you’ve got a four-day break, Portland is a 12-hour flight and an eight-hour time difference, your jet lag is bad, and you feel a bit [rough].

“They went to Portland and I’m asking the question based on professionalism – you’re playing badly, the team are losing, you’re 13th in the league, and there is a new manager coming in – would you choose that trip as a break to recharge your batteries? That’s not a recharging trip. It’s not right that.”

“Sources have now informed…”: What United insiders are saying about Rashford amid exit rumours – report

          “sources-have-now-informed…”:-what-united-insiders-are-saying-about-rashford-amid-exit-rumours-–-report

Manchester United have reportedly not yet made a decision regarding the future of Marcus Rashford, despite ongoing suggestions that he is on his way out of the club.

Earlier today, a report covered by The Peoples Person revealed that United are open to offers for Rashford, amidst concerns over his lifestyle off the pitch.

It was stated that United are worried that football is no longer Rashford’s primary concern and the player is dealing with a number of distractions that are keeping him from nailing down a consistent run of performances and results

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg also relayed that United are indeed prepared to part ways with the Carrington academy graduate as it would mean his hefty wages in excess of £300,000-a-week are no longer on their books.

However, Graeme Bailey has now refuted such claims, indicating that United have not decided whether or not to put Rashford up for sale.

Bailey wrote, “Sources have now informed TBR Football that no decision has been taken on the 27-year-old striker at this moment in time.”

“It is understood Amorim likes Rashford, and the £300,000-a-week forward is keen to impress under the new manager after an underwhelming 2023/24 campaign, in which he scored just eight goals in 43 appearances.”

“TBR Football are aware that nobody at Manchester United has discussed selling the man from Wythenshawe in the January transfer window – while the attacker’s representatives are also yet to signal their client wants out.”

Rashford has been regularly linked to Paris Saint-Germain but according to Bailey, the reigning Ligue 1 champions have not checked up on the United n.o 10 for months now.

It’s understood that United will assess the situation of most of their squad members – including Rashford – at the end of the season.

As it stands, only three stars are almost certainly untouchable – Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.

Rashford scored two goals in Ruben Amorim’s first two Premier League games.

United leave it too late to introduce academy top scorer as they bow out of UEFA competition

Manchester United u19s hosted AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday night at Old Trafford.

A special night for the young reds, they unfortunately played in front of a rather small crowd after the venue was confirmed late and little marketing was done to get supporters in to cheer Adam Lawrence’s side on to a must win.

The Dutch side came into the match with a 2-1 lead on aggregate from the return fixture and almost extended their lead in the opening minutes with a pair of quickfire chances forcing big saves from Will Murdock.

United worked their way into the match throughout the opening 45 minutes, exerting more control as time went on but offered little attacking threat.

The Red Devils’ best chance of the half came late on when Jayce Fitzgerald crossed to the head of Amir Ibragimov but the attacking midfielder’s effort didn’t trouble AZ’s Tristan Kuijsten in the goal, leaving the score deadlocked at 0-0 at the break.

The second half continued in the same vein as the first, with United struggling to breakdown a resolute AZ backline, while the visitors threatened at times on the counter attack, forcing five saves from Murdock on the night.

AZ came closest to hitting the back of the net when Jasper Hartog struck the crossbar after breaking in behind on a 2v1.

Minutes later, Hartog came close again but United’s man of the match Murdock was up to the task again to make the save.

United waited until the final 10 minutes of the match to throw the kitchen sink at it and introduce Chido Obi and Gabriele Biancheri off the bench.

Immediately upon his introduction, Obi went down in the box after feeling some contact but the ref didn’t give the penalty and ultimately it was too little too late for United, who just couldn’t carve out any openings throughout the 90 minutes.

The final whistle came with the score remaining 0-0, resulting in United disappointingly exiting the competition early.

The UEFA Youth League continues to be a challenge for the club with a round of 16 finish being the furthest United have made it since the competition’s inception. Back in domestic competition where the u18s have excelled, the FA Youth Cup kicks off next week as United take on Coventry City.

United: Murdock, Kamason (Obi 80), Jackson, Fredricson, Amass, Devaney, Fitzgerald, Scanlon (T. Fletcher 83), Ibragimov (Thwaites 58), Williams (Missin 58), Wheatley (Biancheri 80)

Manchester United have secured the signing of Emmanuel Ziro for the club’s successful academy.

The u15 star joins from grassroots club Cre8tive Football Academy in West London.

Capable of playing on the wing or in midfield, the youngster possesses quick feet and tight dribbling which allows him to open up opposition defenders.

The youngster revealed his move in style with his own announcement video on Instagram.

Ziro said of his move “firstly, I would like to thank my family for all their love, support and encouragement throughout the years. For as long as I can remember I’ve had a ball at my feet and enjoy the game of football. I now have the opportunity to continue doing that at the biggest club in the world, as well as the team I support.”

Cre8tive Football Academy’s director and founder, Aaron Samuel, also had encouraging words for the youngster adding that “Manu’s come on a long way since joining us almost 3 years ago.”

“He’s got the technical ability, athleticism and that ‘A’ grade quality to be a top player and he’s shown it week in week out for the past 2 seasons. Thanks to the keen eye of @jamahljarrett_, Manu is now able to continue his journey at @manchesterunited and I can’t wait to see how he develops in their professional environment.”

Credited with spotting his talent, Jamahl Jarrett is national scout for United, having joined the club in 2021 after over 10 years with South London club Crystal Palace.

United’s decisiveness in their move has reportedly seen them beat off interest from Chelsea and Arsenal to secure the signing.

The new signing joins a talented u15s group which contains familiar names such as Kai Rooney and Jacey Carrick.

Another recent signing in the same age group is Silva Mexes, the son of Robert Earnshaw, who made waves last week at the MTU Cup with goals against Barcelona, RB Leipzig, PSV Eindhoven, and VFB Stuttgart amongst others.

Ziro will now join the talented group who lifted the u14s national cup last year as they continue their season.

Man Utd: January transfer ‘meeting’ still on as defender faces ‘pressure’ to sign

                man-utd:-january-transfer-‘meeting’-still-on-as-defender-faces-‘pressure’-to-sign

Man Utd will meet with Alphonso Davies in the January transfer window despite pressure from Bayern Munich to sign a new contract, according to reports.

The Red Devils spent around £180m on new signings in the summer transfer window as they looked to support Erik ten Hag ahead of the new season.

However, just nine Premier League matches into the new season, Man Utd made the decision to sack Ten Hag and hire Ruben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon.

It looks likely that there will be very limited money to spend to help Amorim improve his squad in January and the Red Devils are already looking ahead to the summer.

One part of the team which Amorim is keen to improve is left wing-back and Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed in late October that Bayern Munich’s Davies – who is available on a free transfer in the summer – is a target for Man Utd.

Plettenberg wrote on X: “Manchester United’s interest in Alphonso #Davies is becoming more concrete #MUFC have been gathering extensive information on Davies for several days. The 23y/o would be a desired transfer for the vacant left-back position, as recently revealed.

“In recent months, Manchester United have already made an informal inquiry with the player’s camp. At present, there are no new talks about a contract extension with FC Bayern. Davies could leave the club as a free agent next summer.”

Before revealing in November that Davies had become a “dream” target for Man Utd and Amorim ahead of next summer.

Plettenberg added: “#Davies #MUFC … One of Manchester United’s dream targets for summer as revealed.”

And now Plettenberg has a fresh update with the German journalist claiming that Man Utd and Real Madrid still plan on meeting Davies and his representatives in January despite pressure from Bayern Munich to renew his contract.

Plettenberg wrote on X: “FC Bayern is putting pressure on Alphonso Davies (24) to sign a new contract before Christmas the club would like a decision before Davies has the opportunity to meet with Manchester United and Real Madrid in January. Davies’ side is still hesitating and is considering continuing negotiations in the new year.”

Man Utd will be up against it to get a deal over the line with former Liverpool defender Danny Murphy insisting the Reds should challenge the Red Devils for Davies as they look to replace Andy Robertson.

Murphy told BetBrain: “Considering what Andy Robertson has done for Liverpool and the level of performances he’s delivered over the years, he’s now in the conversation when people talk about the best left-backs Liverpool have ever had.

“There’s been some incredible left-backs in some unbelievable Liverpool teams, so let’s praise him for what he’s done in his career – he’s a winner and phenomenal player.

“However, I don’t think Konstantinos Tsimikas is ever going to replace Robertson or play instead of him on a consistent basis, so I think Robertson and Liverpool would benefit from him having real competition at left-back and for Arne Slot to look long term at the position.

“There’d be plenty of competition, but Alphonso Davies is out of contract at Bayern Munich in the summer. If you’re looking for a left-back that ticks every box in terms of one-on-one defending, threat going forward, pace and physicality, he would be the obvious choice for Liverpool.”

Manchester United could reportedly be convinced to sell Lisandro Martinez amidst suggestions that La Liga giants Real Madrid are interested in his services.

Martinez was signed by Erik ten Hag in the summer of 2022, having previously played under the Dutchman at Ajax.

The World Cup-winning defender cost United around £57million in transfer fees. In his first season at the club, Martinez quickly endeared himself to supporters, who were drawn to his no-nonsense defensive actions and incredible ball-playing ability.

However, he couldn’t build on this the following campaign, as his progress was hampered by consistently occurring injuries that limited him to just 11 Premier League appearances.

This term, the Argentina international has started all but three of United’s top-flight fixtures. Like most of his teammates, he has been unable to perform consistently and was at fault for two of the goals the Red Devils conceded last weekend against Nottingham Forest.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Madrid are keeping close tabs on Martinez ahead of a potential swoop.

Now, talkSPORT reveal that United would be prepared to sanction the 26-year-old’s exit under the right circumstances.

According to the news outlet, “Manchester United could be tempted to cash-in on defender Lisandro Martinez if Real Madrid step up their interest in the World Cup winner.”

“While Martinez is seen as a fan favourite in the eyes of many United followers and viewed as one of the few success stories from recent transfer windows, talkSPORT understands the Argentine is not considered off limits for any potential buyer.”

Alex Crook explains that only three players are almost certainly untouchable at Old Trafford – Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho.

Amid the Red Devils’ financial troubles as a result of the pressures brought about by PSR, United are open to offers for nearly every other star.

Martinez and United are back in action on Thursday when they come up against Viktoria Plzeň in the Europa League.

Man Utd ‘nepo baby’ is ‘going around acting the big shot’ and Brailsford’s ‘bag man’

                    man-utd-‘nepo-baby’-is-‘going-around-acting-the-big-shot’-and-brailsford’s-‘bag-man’

A ‘very visible’ Josh Thompson is the Man Utd figure ‘you’ve never heard of’ and the INEOS man is seemingly unsettling things at the Red Devils training ground.

The Red Devils have had a terrible start to the new Premier League season after INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe took charge of their first transfer window at the club.

Man Utd spent around £180m on five players over the summer transfer window with Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui joining.

It has been a far from successful summer and start to the new season for the new Man Utd co-owners with Erik ten Hag already replaced by Ruben Amorim and the Red Devils currently 13th in the Premier League table.

Man Utd also announced on Sunday that Dan Ashworth has left the club in another blow after Ratcliffe chased him for months earlier this year, paying Newcastle compensation to land the former sporting director.

And now Samuel Luckhurst in the Manchester Evening News has done an introductory piece into the INEOS man ‘you’ve never heard of’ at the Man Utd training ground.

Thompson ‘has been very visible’ at Man Utd since INEOS completed a deal to buy 27.7 per cent of the club from the Glazers earlier this year.

He features alongside the familiar faces of Ashworth, Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox in Amorim’s arrival video with Thompson believed to be INEOS’ ‘eyes and ears at the club’s Carrington training complex’.

One person at Man Utd ‘dismissively referred to him as [Sir Dave] Brailsford’s “bag man”‘ and there have been ‘murmurs of discontent about Thompson’s presence at Carrington’.

                    Luckhurst added:

‘When asked for comment on Thompson’s role, an Ineos spokesperson bristled at the query and declined. The spokesperson also declined to confirm if Thompson’s father is the chief executive officer of one of Ineos’s sister groups.

‘Thompson effectively acts as Brailsford’s personal assistant and ensures everything is functioning operationally in relation to Brailsford’s diary. For example, Thompson will book vehicles to chaperone officials to and from Carrington or Old Trafford. Since Ineos ran football operations, United have used the HR Carriages Mayfair firm.

‘A club source has described Thompson as a connector between the ownership and the club and a fixer. Coincidentally, Ed Woodward dubbed John Murtough a “fixer” upon appointing him as football director in March 2021.

‘One source said Thompson is personable and has made an effort to fit into a tricky role not dissimilar to the team that represented the Glazer family at the Carrington coalface.

‘They also accept that some staff are bound to be naturally suspicious of someone who is the embodiment of Ineos at Carrington. A separate source said Thompson is “going around acting the big shot”.’

‘Given the close attachment to Ratcliffe, there have been predictable accusations that Thompson is a nepo baby. One embittered staff member complained that Thompson “brings his mates to Carrington and just stands there watching training”, possibly a reference to [Eliud] Kipchoge’s tour.

‘A colleague was unimpressed by Thompson’s behaviour towards a lift attendant at Wembley before the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City. A source at Carrington, however, assured he is a “nice guy”.

‘A senior figure at United is still unimpressed and has privately questioned Thompson’s role yet is reluctant to raise it. An Ineos source clarified Thompson is a more junior member of the team and not part of the senior leadership team.

‘”There are so many cooks and egos at United,” a source who has dealt with them said. “The structure felt like it was destined to have someone leave but wouldn’t have expected it to be Ashworth or so soon.”‘

United aim to ditch Onana for “one of the most complete and reliable” keepers in Europe – report

Manchester United reportedly want to sell Andre Onana and replace him with AC Milan’s Mike Maignan.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper has had a strong season so far, keeping six clean sheets in the Premier League and making the save of the month in September against Crystal Palace.

Despite receiving numerous plaudits, Onana had a disaster of a game last weekend against Nottingham Forest, as he let in a very soft goal and was arguably to blame for another.

Spanish outlet Fichajes believe this poor performance has left his future “up in the air” and “his possible departure in the next summer transfer window” has led United to search for other alternatives.

Reportedly, their search has led them to Maignan, who is considered “one of most outstanding figures in his position at European level” and he has become the “main candidate” to replace Onana between the sticks at Old Trafford.

The French shot stopper’s contract runs out in 2026, so United may be able to land him for an attractive fee.

Maignan has become “one of the most complete and reliable goalkeepers in European football.” His ability to make crucial stops and wonderful on the ball ability has made him an “undisputed pillar” of the Milan team since his arrival in 2021.

According to the Spanish outlet his skillset makes him an “ideal profile” to replace the instability that Onana allegedly offers.

His current club, AC Milan, have a dilemma according to Fichajes as they don’t want to part with the player but if United make an attractive offer, they may be forced to reevaluate their position.

Maignan for his part, is said to be focused on his current club but he could be one of the main stories of next season’s transfer window according to the site.

The French international has played 19 games this season, conceding 23 goals and keeping six clean sheets.

It would seem harsh to sell Onana as he has generally been accepted as one of United’s best performers in a dark season so far but should he leave, most fans would happily take Maignan as his replacement were United able to pull off the move.
