United have “stepped up talks” for French World Cup star, Pep Guardiola also wants the “complete” striker – report

    united-have-“stepped-up-talks”-for-french-world-cup-star,-pep-guardiola-also-wants-the-“complete”-striker-–-report

Manchester United produced a stunning late comeback to claim bragging rights in the Manchester derby with Amad Diallo playing a starring role.

Ruben Amorim has changed the way the team plays and their patient approach paid dividends with Sunday’s win coming despite the head coach dropping both Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford from the matchday squad.

The Mancunian’s on-field displays and off-field issues have meant there has been an increase in chatter regarding a shock January exit with INEOS reportedly open to a cut-price sale.

Despite a decent start to life as United boss, Amorim needs reinforcements up top but PSR concerns mean the club cannot afford an extravagant outlay in the winter.

    Kolo Muani loan

Loan deals could be the order of the day and Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani is available on a temporary basis with TBR Football claiming United, Arsenal and City will be competing for the Frenchman’s signature in January.

The 26-year-old has managed only two starts this season for PSG, notching two goals and one assist and has not had the best of times in the French capital since his move in 2023.

The “complete” striker was on fire back at Eintracht Frankfurt a couple of seasons ago, hitting 23 goals and registering 17 assists in 46 games. And his track record has meant that English clubs remain interested despite his meagre recent returns.

A move to the Premier League appeals to the France international with PSG looking to include an option to buy in the loan arrangement.

    PL trio in the race

“TBR Football understands that a number of Premier League clubs have now stepped up talks over the possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain striker, Randal Kolo Muani.

“Arsenal, Man United and Manchester City have all expressed an interest in taking the French star in January with PSG willing to sanction a loan move with an option to buy in the future.

“United also feel as if they could strengthen Amorim’s options and the chance to loan Kolo Muani appeals to the club given the constraints they are experiencing with PSR.”

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have not exactly set the stage alight and Kolo Muani could be a decent short-term option. Now for INEOS to take the final call.

United star confirms “positive” contract talks after brilliant Manchester derby performance

      united-star-confirms-“positive”-contract-talks-after-brilliant-manchester-derby-performance

Harry Maguire has confirmed that he is in “positive” talks with Manchester United about agreeing a new contract.

The 31-year-old’s current deal expires in June, but United have an option to extend it for another year to keep him tied down until 2026.

As per The Daily Mail, Maguire is feeling optimistic about his future at the club. He said: “I’ve still got this year to go with an option in their hands, but all the signs are positive at the moment and the chat that I’m having is really positive.”

The Englishman came close to leaving Old Trafford for West Ham last year, but responded well to the move falling through and knuckled down under Erik ten Hag despite losing the club captaincy to Bruno Fernandes.

So far he has been used sparingly by Ruben Amorim, but completed his first full 90 minutes under the Portuguese boss in yesterday’s thrilling 2-1 derby win at Manchester City.

Maguire impressed at centre of a back three, where he was flanked by Lisandro Martinez to the left and Matthijs de Ligt to the right.

Speaking about Amorim’s system, he said: “You can see we have a good structure, a good style of play and the way that he wants us to work.

“I think his demands, he’s tactically very good. He’s proven that he’s a winner.”

After a turbulent couple of games, United’s last-gasp win at the Etihad has brought back some of the feelgood factor Amorim engendered upon his arrival.

“We had back-to-back defeats in the Premier League, so to come here and to put a statement down is really important for our confidence and the belief of where we’re going and where Ruben’s going to take us,” said Maguire. “Like I said, I’m sure it’s going to be a positive journey.”

Amorim’s preference for playing with three centre-backs opens the door for plenty of opportunities for Maguire should he continue to perform well in that position.

Fitness permitting, there is stiff competition with De Ligt and Martinez established first-team regulars and young Leny Yoro gradually entering the fray upon his return from injury.

But Maguire is now comfortably ahead of Victor Lindelof in the pecking order, and Jonny Evans has been on the sidelines for weeks.

Man Utd: Amorim ‘quizzes’ two Red Devils stars as he ‘launches probe’ into finding ‘mole’ amid leaks

        man-utd:-amorim-‘quizzes’-two-red-devils-stars-as-he-‘launches-probe’-into-finding-‘mole’-amid-leaks

Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim is conducting an investigation into the player responsible for leaking team news, according to reports.

The Red Devils beast arch-rivals Man City in the Premier League on Sunday with Amorim’s side coming from a goal down to beat the Citizens, thanks to late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo.

Man Utd, who are currently 13th in the Premier League table, have had a terrible season so far with Erik ten Hag losing his job at the end of October and the Red Devils have continued their inconsistent form under the new manager.

Amorim has overseen two wins, two losses and a draw in the Premier League, while Man Utd have also won two Europa League matches under the Portuguese head coach.

And his job has been made harder with team news being leaked to the press before they play important matches with the starting XI for their clash against Man City was leaked the night before.

Man Utd boss Amorim was unhappy that the team news had been linked, he commented: “I know that story, I think it is impossible to fix, you have a lot of people in the club, the players talk with agents, it is not a good thing.”

And now The Sun claim that Man Utd have ‘launched an investigation into which player is leaking team news information’ and derby day hero Diallo and Garnacho – who was left out of the squad altogether – have ‘been quizzed by new boss Ruben Amorim as to whether they are responsible’.

        The report added:

‘Garnacho’s brother Roberto had been accused on social media of being one source.

‘Team news has leaked in the past when Alejandro has been left out.

‘Roberto denied last week that he is the mole.’

        The Sun continued:

‘Amorim is satisfied neither Amad or Garnacho are involved directly in the leaking.’

Former Man Utd assistant manager Rene Meulensteen reckons the Red Devils would win the Premier League under Amorim if all his players had the same attitude as Diallo, who scored a wonderful solo effort against Man City.

Meulensteen told Instant Casino: “Amad Diallo is the embodiment of Manchester United. He is exactly what I want to see in Manchester United players – he’s fresh, quick, hard-working, brave and quality on the ball. His body language is excellent and he’s great to watch – that’s what he’s all about.

“Everything that Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho lack, Diallo has in abundance. If I had to pick out one player and say, ‘that’s how I want Manchester United to be’ – it’s him!

“If United had 11 players with the same attitude as Amad Diallo, they would win the Premier League. There are too many squad members who you could say have a lack of quality or bad attitude, but he has none of that at all. He’s been so refreshing to watch in the past few weeks and I hope it can continue.”

Amorim ‘wants Man Utd star out now’ and ‘names’ January ‘replacement’ as plans take ‘first step’

          amorim-‘wants-man-utd-star-out-now’-and-‘names’-january-‘replacement’-as-plans-take-‘first-step’

Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim wants to get rid of Andre Onana in the January transfer window with a replacement lined up, according to reports.

The Red Devils beat Man City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in a potentially game-changing victory for the confidence and belief around Ruben Amorim’s side.

Late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo wiped out Josko Gvardiol’s opener for the Citizens as Man Utd picked up an important three points, which kept them 13th in the Premier League table but five points off fifth-placed Man City.

Amorim has only been in place since mid-November and has had a mixed start to his time at Old Trafford with the Portuguese coach overseeing two wins, two losses and a draw in his first five Premier League matches.

There has been lots of speculation as to who Man Utd could look to move on in the January transfer window and who Amorim will be able to bring in as reinforcements.

Onana is one player who has put himself in the spotlight in recent weeks, despite his overall good form this season for Man Utd, after dropping a couple of clangers against Nottingham Forest and Viktoria Plzen.

And now reports in Spain claim that Amorim ‘wants him out now’ and ‘asks for a top replacement for January’ after ‘losing patience’ with Onana.

It is understood that the Cameroonian ‘has not managed to convince the Portuguese coach, who is already planning his replacement for the winter transfer market’.

Amorim ‘names’ the replacement he wants in the form of Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka and Man Utd ‘would be willing to invest 20 million euros to sign him as an undisputed starter’.

The Man Utd boss has ‘made Bulka one of his priorities’ with the Poland goalkeeper ‘an affordable option for the Red Devils , who are willing to make the necessary financial effort’.

Signing a new goalkeeper is ‘one of the most urgent priorities’ and ‘would be the first step in Ruben Amorim ‘s plans to strengthen the team in the winter transfer market’.

Despite the rumours, Amorim came out and defended Onana from criticism earlier this week, the Man Utd boss said: “Yeah we have to take it like it is. He had already, in the past, a situation like that. So we have to work on this.

“If you see the play, we are trying to build up a lot with the goalkeeper making the balls with Matta [Matthijs de Ligt] a lot of times.

“This time, we have a disconnect a little bit during the play and, when we try this, we suffered a goal, a difficult goal for us in the start of the second half. But we managed today, not like against Nottingham [Forest]. We managed to help Onana, like he did in the past for us.”

United “launch investigation” to try and find out source of team news leak with Amorim questioning two stars – report

            united-“launch-investigation”-to-try-and-find-out-source-of-team-news-leak-with-amorim-questioning-two-stars-–-report

A full 24 hours before Sunday’s Manchester derby, team news from the red side of Manchester got leaked, which was published on social media by The Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst.

As per the alleged leak, Ruben Amorim had decided to omit both Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford from the starting line-up. The leak turned out to be true when team news dropped on Sunday with both wingers not even making the matchday squad.

The head coach explained why he opted to drop his biggest counter-attacking goal threats and despite their absence, the Red Devils produced a stirring late comeback to claim all three points against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Amad Diallo turned out to be the star of the show as the team retained control and displayed patience on the ball and got their just rewards in the end.

            Team news leak

Amorim was asked about the team news leak after the encounter and he said, “I know that story, I think it is impossible to fix, you have a lot of people in the club, the players talk with agents, it is not a good thing.”

According to The Sun, the club have launched an investigation to find out who the mole is exactly with Amorim even speaking to both Garnacho and Amad about the leak.

There have been accusations on social media regarding Garnacho’s brother Robert, who has denied these claims. And the Portuguese is satisfied that neither the Argentine nor the Ivorian is the culprit.

“MANCHESTER UNITED have launched an investigation into which player is leaking team news information.

“Both derby day hero Amad Diallo and axed Alejandro Garnacho have been quizzed by new boss Ruben Amorim as to whether they are responsible. Amorim is satisfied neither Amad or Garnacho are involved directly in the leaking.”

Whether the omission of both Garnacho and Rashford has something to do with team news leak is still not sure but Amorim has claimed that it is more to do with their training displays.

            Investigation on

“It’s important to say why: it was not a disciplinary thing. Next week, next game, new life, they are fighting for their places.

“For me it’s important, the performance in training, the performance in games, the way you dress, the way you eat, the way you engage with teammates, the way you push your teammates.”

Whether the club’s step will deter such leaks from occurring in the future remains to be seen but both the coach and the club must try to curb this menace at the earliest as it puts United on the backfoot.

Strong measures need to be taken and if any player, no matter his standing in the squad, is considered to be guilty, it is imperative that the club axe him for good.

Man City flops rescued by shameful Southampton in Premier League worst XI of matchday 16

              man-city-flops-rescued-by-shameful-southampton-in-premier-league-worst-xi-of-matchday-16

Man City were stinky but not stinky enough to have a single player in the Premier League worst XI of the weekend, which is dominated by Southampton.

As always, the team is based on WhoScored match ratings.

GK: Alex McCarthy (Southampton) – 5.56
Where do we begin?. Southampton’s customary 9-0 Premier League looked possible as they were demolished by Tottenham on Sunday night but after racing into a 4-0 lead inside 25 minutes, they took pity on their hosts in the second half after James Maddison’s second made it 5-0 deep into first-half injury time.

Conceding five goals in a match should always make you the worst goalkeeper of the weekend and that is the case with McCarthy, who made four saves in total, three of which came from shots inside the box. Aaron Ramsdale’s return should help but he needs to become superhuman to help the Saints avoid finishing bottom of the Premier League.

READ NEXT: Who will be the new Southampton manager?

              RB: Kyle Walker-Peters (Southampton) – 5.64
Man City’s Kyle Walker was rubbish again but it is his former Tottenham team-mate and (almost) namesake who earns a spot in the worst XI of the weekend.

He failed to track Heung-min Son and pick up goalscorer Dejan Kulusevski for Spurs’ third and was bullied off the ball by Destiny Udogie in the build-up to Pape Matar Sarr’s goal. It was a miserable afternoon for the Saints right-back.

CB: Jan Bednarek (Southampton) – 5.33
Bednarek has completed 941 passes in the Premier League this season, which is the most for someone to play 12 or fewer matches. He should fall down in the rankings following Russell Martin’s sacking with his replacement likely to change Southampton’s approach from passing themselves to boredom to something a little less naive.

The Polish defender registered his second error leading to a goal of 2024/25 in the 5-0 home defeat to Spurs, assisting Son with a perfect flicked header to the back post for the visitors’ second before eating grass for Kulusevski’s goal and being put in a spin cycle for Sarr’s.

CB: Conor Coady (Leicester) – 4.80
It’s nice to move away from Southampton as we take a look at the worst-rated player of the weekend. Leicester centre-back Coady could not deal with Alexander Isak in Newcastle United’s 4-0 home win, failing to clear the ball and registering an error leading to a goal for the Swede’s close-range finish.

CB: Jan Paul van Hecke (Brighton) – 5.55
We are on a roll with another non-Saints player in the worst XI. Our third and final centre-back is another with an error leading to a goal, though Van Hecke’s ‘error’ for Trevoh Chalobah’s opener strikes us as harsh.

Regardless, it was recorded and the algorithm doesn’t take nicely to those capers. He also lost possession 12 times and lost six duels, which did not help.

LB: Andy Robertson (Liverpool) – 5.10
It was a weekend to forget for quite a few left-backs in the Premier League. Robertson – who has been below par in 2024 – showed the strongest sign yet that he is finished at the top level with a calamitous red card against Fulham, which Liverpool head coach admitted was “deserved” but put down to the Scot carrying an injury from a strong Issa Diop challenge in the opening minutes.

Robertson’s woeful first touch allowed Harry Wilson to nip in and dribble in on goal but before he properly recovered the ball, the Welshman was wiped out and denied a clear goalscoring opportunity. Robertson had no complaints and Antonee Robinson’s performance for Fulham will have rubbed salt in the wounds – he is a fantastic player and the best possible replacement.

Elsewhere in Our League, left-backs Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marc Cucurella were sent off after the full-time whistle and Matheus Nunes had a shocker for Man City, conceding a penalty after a terrible pass back to Ederson.

DM: Oliver Skipp (Leicester) – 5.31
It has been a rough season for Skipp, who cost Leicester £25m in the summer. Eek.

The 24-year-old didn’t complete any take-ons, create any big chances, register an attempted assist or shot on target, make a single tackle or clearance as the Foxes were thumped at St James’ Park.

CM: Flynn Downes (Southampton) – 5.61
Back to managerless Southampton we go.

Like Skipp, ex-West Ham midfielder Downes was sold in the summer and has struggled as a regular starter in the Premier League. Against Spurs, he contributed nothing defensively or offensively.

CM: Mateus Fernandes (Southampton) – 5.68
Fernandes has been one positive for Southampton this season but he, like basically every one of his team-mates, was given the run-around at St Mary’s.

A yellow card did not help as he gets in this team just ahead of Leicester winger Stephy Mavididi.

ST: Adam Armstrong (Southampton) – 6.07
You can sympathise with the Saints attack given the calamity going on behind them but the algorithm doesn’t care. Against Spurs, Armstrong registered two shots, zero take-ons, zero aerial duels won, completed a grand total of four passes and was dribbled past twice.

Having been booked in the Manchester derby, Man United striker Rasmus Hojlund very narrowly misses out. He had a 6.09 match rating.

ST: Kamaldeen Sulemana (Southampton) – 5.81
Sulemana puts Armstrong to shame with his five passes but was even more anonymous, shooting precisely zero times in the 5-0 home defeat to Spurs.

United have sent an “interesting proposal” to CL giants for 19yo attacking genius who destroyed City recently – report

                united-have-sent-an-“interesting-proposal”-to-cl-giants-for-19yo-attacking-genius-who-destroyed-city-recently-–-report

Manchester United produced a stunning late comeback against cross-town rivals Manchester City to win the volatile Premier League encounter 2-1 away at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Ruben Amorim is changing the club’s style of play for the better with the Manchester derby win coming despite the Portuguese dropping both his top scorers for the game.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, who have been the team’s go-to counter-attacking options under previous managers, were dropped for the game as the new head coach opted to control the game rather than focusing on chaos.

The Mancunian’s disappointing form on the pitch and his off-pitch demeanor has led to talks of an exit with the club open to a cut-price sale.

                Attacking reinforcements

In case the England international does end up leaving, the Red Devils will need attacking reinforcements down the left and Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz has emerged as a serious option.

He excels down the left but can also play all across the frontline and as a support striker if needed. He has four goals and as many assists from 18 starts across all competitions this season.

Ever since INEOS came onboard, the club’s strategy has shifted from signing old superstars to focusing on trying to acquire the best young talents from across the globe and the young Turk certainly fits that bill.

As per Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the 20-time English league champions have sent an “interesting proposal” to the Turin-based club after being impressed with the 19-year-old’s display when Juve beat City.

                United keen on Yildiz

United’s eyes “widen” whenever they have seen the Turkiye international in action and his display in midweek has it “rekindled their interest” in the attacker.

The Bianconeri have no plans of parting ways with the former Bayern Munich starlet, signing a new deal which will keep the player in Turin until 2029.

United remain “one of the great admirers” of the footballer and have been following his exploits since his days in Bavaria.

Juventus are aware that United and other big clubs “return to the charge” and are even planning further talks in 2025 to bring Yildiz’s earnings up to speed with the other top earners in Thiago Motta’s squad so as to avoid the potential of losing him on the cheap.

Manchester United’s stunning 2-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad was a night to remember, not just for Amad Diallo’s late winner but also for the remarkable performance of Manuel Ugarte in midfield.

The Uruguayan, who has struggled to find his footing since arriving in England, delivered his finest display yet in a United shirt, helping the team secure a dramatic comeback win.

Trailing 1-0 after City took the lead, United showed resilience and composure rarely associated with their recent derby outings.

Instead of crumbling under pressure, they stayed in the game, biding their time to strike.

The equaliser came in the 88th minute, and Amad’s stunning 90th-minute goal sealed a memorable win.

But while the headlines belong to Diallo, it was Ugarte’s tireless work in midfield that gave United the platform to compete and ultimately triumph.

Ugarte’s performance was a masterclass in defensive and transitional play.

Playing the full 90 minutes, he recorded an outstanding 95% passing accuracy, including three successful long balls. His ability to retain possession and distribute under pressure helped United weather City’s attacks and maintain their shape.

Defensively, Ugarte was immense. He won seven duels, made four crucial tackles, and added two interceptions and a clearance to his tally.

United remained compact and organised. His one key pass demonstrated his composure, showing he wasn’t just about stopping City but also contributing to United’s attacking transitions.

The 23 year old has endured a challenging start to life at Old Trafford, adapting to a new league and facing managerial instability. Yet, on the biggest stage, he rose to the occasion, bossing the midfield against one of the Premier League’s most formidable sides.

United’s victory may be remembered for its late drama, but it was built on the solidity and grit of players like Ugarte. If this performance is a sign of what’s to come, United may have found their new midfield general.

Man Utd identify Rashford replacement after derby omission as Euro giants ‘consider sale’

Man Utd have identified Randal Kolo Muani as a potential replacement for Marcus Rashford in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Red Devils beat arch-rivals Man City in the Manchester Derby on Sunday 2-1 with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo sealing a late comeback victory for Ruben Amorim’s side.

Amorim stunned fans and pundits when he chose to leave Rashford and Man Utd team-mate Alejandro Garnacho out of the 20-man squad for the clash at the Etihad Stadium.

When asked about his team selection, Amorim told Sky Sports before the game: “We try to evaluate everything training performance, game performances, engagement with teammates, push their teammates up.

“Everything is on the line when we analyse and try to choose the players. It is my selection. Simple.

“I don’t want to send a message it is simply an evaluation and they know it. The players are really, really smart. Everybody understands my decision and I have to choose. It is simple selection.

“Of course the context is difficult because we have to win games and we have a difficult situation now. I pay attention to everything, the way you eat, the way you put your clothes to go to a game. Everything. I make my evaluation and then I decide.

“There is a communication after the last training. They are alright. They had training this morning and I was there. They trained really well.”

Amorim’s decision came after a week of speculation surrounding Rashford’s future with claims that Man Utd are open to selling the England international in the January transfer window if they receive a ‘top offer’.

And now Man Utd are looking at possible replacements with French publication L’Equipe confirming that the Red Devils are keen on signing PSG forward Kolo Muani.

PSG boss Luis Enrique has now given a ‘sign’ that the French club will look to move Kolo Muani on in the winter after leaving the striker out of his squad for the 3-1 win over Lyon in Ligue 1 over the weekend.

And Sky Germany back those claims up by insisting that Kolo Muani ‘currently plays no role at all in coach Luis Enrique’s plans and is expected to leave the club in the winter on loan at best’.

However, the report adds that the France international – who has contributed 12 goals and seven assists in 55 matches for PSG – ‘is on the transfer shortlist’ of Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.

Two Premier League clubs battling it out to sign United defender in January – report

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof could be leaving Old Trafford during the January transfer window, with both Premier League and Serie A clubs vying for his signature.

The Swedish international is reportedly open to an early departure, while United appear ready to facilitate his exit.

Lindelof’s contract expires in the summer, enabling him to leave as a free agent.

However, United might look to cash in early, with Caughtoffside suggesting they would accept a fee in the region of €7-8m.

While this price may deter some suitors who could instead wait to sign the 30 year old for free, the immediate need for defensive reinforcements might persuade others to act quickly.

Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Everton are among the English clubs monitoring Lindelof’s situation.

Having established himself as a reliable centre-back during his tenure at United, Lindelof offers Premier League experience and proven quality in his position.

For Newcastle and West Ham, in particular, bolstering defensive depth with an experienced player of Lindelof’s calibre aligns with their competitive ambitions.

Interest in Lindelof extends beyond England, with Serie A heavyweights AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus reportedly monitoring developments.

Lazio and Fiorentina have also expressed interest, indicating a potential bidding war among Italian clubs.

Lindelof’s style of play and adaptability could make him an attractive prospect for clubs in Italy’s top tier.

For United, the deal would provide modest financial benefits while creating room for squad adjustments. For Lindelof, it offers the chance to rejuvenate his career with more regular playing opportunities.
