West Ham’s confirmed relegation to the Championship on Sunday has fans sweating over their talisman Jarrod Bowen’s future.Although the prolific forward is contracted to the London Stadium until June 2030, it’s anticipated that he’ll be on the move this summer in order to continue playing in the top flight.DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL STRETTY NEWS APP FOR ALL THE LATEST UPDATES & BREAKING NEWS – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! I could write loads trying to explain where it all went wrong this season, but honestly what you deserve from me is an apology. Winning that trophy in Prague was the best night of my career. United rocked as Arsenal set to spark “bidding war” for 23-yo wizard Wilcox wants to be Bruno’s heir – report

Manchester United are braced for a “bidding war” to erupt over Morgan Rogers after Arsenal stormed into the race for the 23-year-old wizard, according to a new report. Arteta pushing hard Fresh from securing the Gunners’ first Premier League title in 22 years, Mikel Arteta is intent on further strengthening his squad next season. Despite having the opportunity to add the Champions League to their domestic title, with a showdown clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday in the final, Arsenal have not been at their vintage best going forward this season. A talented and versatile goal-scoring threat like Rogers would be a major upgrade on the left wing for Arteta, with talkSPORT revealing the Spaniard is “personally leading the drive” to sign Rogers as he sees capturing the Aston Villa star as a “signal of intent” to Arsenal’s rivals. The report claims “preliminary talks” have already been held, with Unai Emery’s side increasingly resigned to losing their prized asset this summer. Despite winning the Europa League last week, the England international — primed to play a key role for the Three Lions at the World Cup next summer — is open to leaving Villa Park for one of Europe’s elite clubs. United risk being priced out United are one of the sides most interested in Rogers, with INEOS considering him a potential long-term successor to Bruno Fernandes. The Villa star’s ability to thrive on the left would enable him to play alongside Fernandes, before eventually inverting inside to the No.10 role when the Portuguese talisman finally calls time on his career in M16. Sporting director Jason Wilcox is “known to be an admirer of Rogers” after the pair’s shared time in the Manchester City academy. United have increasingly targeted Premier League-proven operators since the 55-year-old executive was placed in charge at Old Trafford — with the Halesowen native matching this profile. However, Villa are understood to be demanding a minimum of £80m to sanction a sale, with the increased interest from Arsenal, as well as Chelsea and PSG, meaning a “bidding war is likely to drive that price to around £100m.” With United’s focus this summer being a revamp in midfield, the budget will not be able to extend to a big-money raid for Rogers. This limitation has also ruled out a move for RB Leipzig speedster Yan Diomande, giving Liverpool a free run at the 19-year-old Ivorian. Final Thoughts While Rogers ticks many of INEOS’s boxes — young, versatile, Premier League-proven — his profile as a left-sided attacking midfielder, capable of playing on the wing or as a No.10, mirrors Matheus Cunha, United’s signing last summer. If the club are to sanction a big-money raid for a new weapon in Michael Carrick’s forward line, a player with a different skillset to the exiting players, such as Diomande, would be a far more effective way to strengthen the squad. Manchester United are one of a number of top clubs interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Luka Vuskovic, according to a new report. The Next Big Thing Vuskovic is considered one of the premier prospects in world football, having enjoyed a breakout campaign in the Bundesliga on a season-long loan with Hamburger SV. Already a Croatia international at just 19 years of age, the 6’4 behemoth is set to play a key role for his country at the World Cup in North America next month. This imposing frame makes him one of the “most dominant young defenders” in Europe, with six goals to his name this year underscoring his ability to thrive in both boxes. However, he is not simply a defensive brute; he combines this physical dominance with “intelligence and composure that go beyond his age” according to one scouting report. “He has a good passing technique and the vision to identify progressive options, often breaking lines with vertical passes that help his team advance from the back. He is comfortable initiating build-up and does not shy away from taking responsibility in possession. His decision-making in these phases is generally calm and purposeful, which adds value to his overall defensive profile.” It is little wonder, therefore, that a host of top clubs, inside and outside of England, are keeping close tabs on the Split native, given he is set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer. Tottenham have endured a torrid campaign under three different managers, only confirming Premier League survival with a 1-0 win in the season finale against Everton on Sunday. It marks the second successive year they have finished seventeenth. While the arrival of Robert De Zerbi has lifted the mood around the club, the daunting prospect of a major rebuild and no European football is creating uncertainty around the futures of their best players — including Vuskovic. Eyed by Europe’s Elite Sports Boom reveals Europe’s elite, including the Red Devils, are plotting raids for the Croatian starlet. FC Barcelona are understood to be the strongest suitors as the champions of Spain look to overhaul Hansi Flick’s backline. However, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund both want to keep Vuskovic in Germany, while Serie A winners Inter Milan are also in the hunt. In England, United are joined by Chelsea and Liverpool in their admiration, with all three looking to take advantage of their domestic rival’s fragile state. Sports Boom describes the growing queue as a “highly contested group stage of suitors”, with a “bidding war” in the works. Tottenham Hotspur are said to be “holding out for a transfer fee of somewhere in the region of €60/70 million” (£52-60m), with their negotiating position significantly bolstered by avoiding relegation. Final Thoughts Interestingly, United have also been linked with moves for the existing centre-back partnership in De Zerbi’s squad, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. However, the decision to extend the contract of long-term stalwart Harry Maguire has seen United’s focus shift from an established option to a younger one. Vuskovic is the gold standard for defensive prospects in Europe, as demonstrated by half the continent’s biggest clubs jostling for position in a red-hot race to secure his signature. His size and duel-winning ability make him the ideal successor to Maguire at Old Trafford. Whether United will be able to stump up the cash needed to win it is another matter, however, given INEOS’s intent to invest the bulk of their war chest on midfield this summer. Brentford have held talks to sign Jadon Sancho on a free transfer this summer, but the 26-year-old winger only has eyes for a different Premier League club, according to a new report. An Expensive Mistake In a long line of terrible signings at Old Trafford in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, the £73 million deal agreed with Borussia Dortmund for Sancho is arguably the worst. The South London native never adapted to life in Manchester, despite having come through the academy in the blue half of the city before leaving for Germany as a 17-year-old. At the Signal Iduna Park, he emerged as one of the most exciting wingers in Europe, offering dizzying dribbling and cutting-edge creativity on par with the continent’s best attackers. At the time, United looked to have landed the ideal complement to complete their young attacking trident with Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood; the fact that all three, for very different reasons, no longer reside in M16 tells its own story of how this plan played out. Across 83 appearances in a red shirt, Sancho returned a paltry 12 goals and six assists. This lack of production on the pitch was exacerbated by numerous issues off it, leading Manchester United to sanction multiple loans as no club was willing to sign him permanently. Sancho has spent this season on a year-long loan with rivals Aston Villa after failing to agree terms with Chelsea last summer following a similar arrangement in the 2024/25 campaign. He previously returned to Borussia Dortmund on a six-month loan in January 2024. Testing the Free Agency Market Manchester United retain the option to extend Sancho’s exorbitant contract by twelve months. But there is zero interest in doing this as INEOS prepare to finally rid themselves of an expensive mistake ahead of a return to the Champions League next year. This means Sancho will become a free agent next month, with potential suitors — such as Brentford — having been able to hold talks over a deal. Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are also keeping tabs on the situation, according to Sports Boom. But the player is understood to be actively pushing to remain in Birmingham as he would “love to stay at Aston Villa” next season, having become the second Manchester United misfit to get a new lease of life under Unai Emery. EXCL: Jadon Sancho would love to stay at Aston Villa next season, with Villa exploring a cut-price permanent deal.✂️ Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Brentford are all monitoring after Man Utd decided against offering him a new contract.✍️❌#AVFC #MUFChttps://t.co/upnhlKLRgl — Sportsboom (@Sportsboomcom) May 26, 2026 Tweet: “EXCL: Jadon Sancho would love to stay at Aston Villa next season, with Villa exploring a cut-price permanent deal. Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Brentford are all monitoring after Man Utd decided against offering him a new contract.” Aston Villa have enjoyed a superb campaign under the Spaniard, finishing fourth in the Premier League and winning the Europa League with an emphatic 3-0 trouncing of Freiburg in Istanbul. Sancho has featured often in the second half of the season, having endured a slow start to life at Villa Park. Emery has made reference in press-conferences to keeping the Manchester United loanee, though he would undoubtedly have to make a considerable sacrifice on his salary to facilitate a permanent move — a choice Sancho has consistently rejected in the past. Final Thoughts Manchester United will have little care where Sancho ends up plying his trade next season; just that it will not be at the Theatre of Dreams. While interest from teams like Brentford, Bournemouth and Palace makes sense if they feel they can unlock his talent on a free, their wage packets will not interest the player. If Aston Villa are prepared to use the cash they save with no transfer fee to line Sancho’s pockets, he may remain where he is. But if they are not, interest from Türkiye and Saudi Arabia could offer him an escape from English football, given his reputation on home soil is at its nadir. Manchester United have reportedly shifted their focus from signing a winger to a left-back due to Patrick Dorgu and his exploits in attack. When the Dane first rose through the ranks of Lecce, he was considered one of the best rising full-backs in Italian football.DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL STRETTY NEWS APP FOR ALL THE LATEST UPDATES & BREAKING NEWS – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAYBut when the youngster was promoted to the first team, he was often used as an inverted right-winger in a 4-3-3 system. After joining Man Utd in January 2025, he was naturally played as a wing-back in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, but Michael Carrick’s switch to a four-man backline reignited the debate over his best playing position.Carrick convinved Patrick Dorgu can be a solution on the left wingWhen Carrick replaced Amorim in January, he immediately decided to field Dorgu as a left winger in his 4-2-3-1 formation, in a move that raised eyebrows, first because it came at Matheus Cunha’s expense, and second because deploying classic wingers has become a rarity in the age of inverted wingers.Nevertheless, the 44-year-old won the bet, with Dorgu scoring in the first two matches of his tenure, helping United beat their crosstown rivals Manchester City 2-0, and eventual league winners Arsenal 3-2. The Dane even won the Goal of the Year Award for his superb strike against the Gunners.Sadly for Dorgu, he sustained an injury during the win in North London, so he spent more than three months on the sidelines. He finally returned to the starting lineup on the final day of the season, and he put on a brilliant display in the resounding 3-0 victory over Brighton. The former Lecce man headed home the opener that allowed Bruno Fernandes to break the Premier League’s assist record in a season, and then set up the third goal for his captain.Want more Stretty News coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trustAccording to the Manchester Evening News correspondent Steven Railston, Man Utd are increasingly convinced by Dorgu’s exploits in attack that they might decide to drop their plans to sign a new left winger. The Red Devils were linked with the likes of Yan Diomande and Morgan Rogers, but they’re unlikely to splash a large transfer fee on a winger this summer, as their priority is to revamp the midfield with two or three new recruits. Moreover, with Dorgu delivering the goods, Carrick and his staff are leaning towards confirming the 21-year-old and Cunha as his two main left-winger options for next season.Man United must add left-back options behind Luke ShawWith Dorgu switching to a more attacking role, any funds previously allocated for a new left winger could be shifted to the full-back department, as Man Utd cannot enter the next campaign with Luke Shaw as the only natural left-back in the squad. The England international impressively started all 38 Premier League matches this term, but this feat cannot be replicated next season with the return of Champions League football.Railston names Newcastle’s Lewis Hall and Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly as potential targets. Nevertheless, MUFC could also bolster their first-team options by promoting one of their youngsters.Harry Amass, who already played with the seniors under Amorim, will return from an injury-riddled loan stint at Norwich. The highly-regarded Diego Leon will be hoping to get the opportunity to impress in pre-season, as will Godwill Kukonki, who is considered one of the most promising teenagers at Carrington.

Manchester United are working on signing Ederson from Atalanta, according to reports. The Brazilian dynamo, renowned for his tireless running and physicality, has been on Manchester United’s radar since last year. He is set to leave the Serie A club this summer, with his contract due to expire in 12 months. Ederson may not be the name that gets fans on their feet, but United’s efforts to land him suggest that Jason Wilcox is an admirer. Ederson expected to become Manchester United’s first signing According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United could make Ederson their “first signing of the summer transfer window” after making progress in talks with Atalanta. The 26-year-old, who can play as a deep-lying midfielder or as a No. 8, has “built a reputation in Italy for his running power”. Ederson is “definitely of interest” and could “become Michael Carrick’s first signing if talks continue to progress”. However, United are looking to sign at least two midfielders this summer. It is claimed Ederson’s potential arrival is not expected to alter the club’s plans to sign a marquee midfielder to replace Casemiro. “United chiefs have earmarked significant investment to sign Casemiro’s successor,” the report adds. Manchester United want marquee addition Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson is reportedly at the top of Manchester United’s midfield shortlist. However, the Red Devils will not be drawn into a bidding war with Manchester City. It is understood Real Madrid star Aurélien Tchouaméni is “seen as a dream midfield signing at Old Trafford”. However, Real Madrid are yet to show any willingness to entertain the idea of his exit. United are also reported to be monitoring Mateus Fernandes, and it should be relatively easy to get a deal over the line for the Portuguese player, given West Ham’s relegation to the Championship. Former Manchester United star Phil Neville has been sacked by Major League Soccer outfit Portland Timbers, it has been confirmed. Neville sacked Neville joined the Timbers in 2023, five months after he was dismissed by Inter Miami. He left Inter Miami, which is co-owned by his former United and England teammate David Beckham, with the club at the bottom of the Eastern Conference after a run of 10 defeats in 13 games. Before that, Neville was the coach of the Lionesses for three years from 2018 to 2021 before moving to MLS to take the Miami job. He set a new scoring record and took the Timbers to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons to start his tenure, but fell in the opening round the first year and the first round the next. Neville’s last game at the helm of the Timbers was Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of the San Jose Earthquakes. This result left Neville and his players third from bottom in the Western Conference, eight points adrift of an automatic MLS play-offs spot. Reactions Timbers owner Merritt Paulson said in a statement, “In my nearly two decades of owning and operating the Portland Timbers, there are very few people I have enjoyed working with more than Phil Neville.” “Phil has outstanding leadership qualities and a boundless sense of positivity even in the face of adversity. I cannot thank Phil enough for his tireless dedication to this club and the Portland community, which he and his family truly embraced.” Neville admitted that results had ultimately not been good enough to warrant a continued stay. He remarked, “I’d like to thank Merritt Paulson, Ned Grabavoy, and the entire Portland family for their unwavering support in giving me the job and standing behind me.” “To my staff, thank you for your incredible loyalty and hard work. And to the most incredible bunch of players: thank you for the effort, the good times, the good results, the bad results, and all the laughs we shared together.” “I realise we are in a results business, and the results haven’t been to the expectation of this football club. To the Timbers Army – you are the reason I felt inspired to try and bring success to this club. Keep getting behind the players and the club in this wonderful city. I will miss you all.” Neville made 386 appearances for United after coming up through the club’s academy alongside his brother Gary. He was part of the famed ‘Class of ’92’ alongside Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt. The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
