Blockbuster transfer battle between United and City on the card for “exciting” Belgian sensation – report

Manchester United are on the hunt for a reliable replacement for Andre Onana who has looked far from secure since Ruben Amorim took charge.

The Cameroonian has continued to make mistakes both in the Premier League as well as in Europe which have cost the Red Devils big time.

And the Portuguese is on the lookout for a new No. 1, especially given Altay Bayindir’s uncertain future while the current No 1 has also been linked with a move away.

Senne Lammens is one name who has been frequently linked with a move to Old Trafford recently with the Belgian ace impressing for Royal Antwerp.

Lammens has impressed

The “exciting” shot-stopper has kept seven clean sheets in 33 games and has earned praise for pulling off brilliant close-range saves.

And his displays have alerted several Premier League sides to his availability with both Manchester clubs joining the likes of Newcastle, Arsenal, West Ham and Wolves in the chase for the 22-year-old.

Not only in England but also European giants such as Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also looking at the 6ft 3in goalie.

CaughtOffside have claimed Pep Guardiola is on the lookout for an able replacement for Ederson which means a potential showdown between the City boss and Amorim is on the cards.

The 20-time English league champions have the upper hand in that case with the player himself recently revealing that he would find it tough to turn down a move to the Theatre of Dreams.

“Premier League giants Manchester City and Manchester United are looking to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window. Both are looking to make moves for a new player in goal and they are fighting for the same goalkeeper.

City vs United for same keeper

“The uncertain future of Man City goalkeeper Ederson is forcing Pep Guardiola to enter the market to sign a new goalkeeper while Ruben Amorim has been unimpressed with the performances of Andre Onana this season.

“According to Caught Offside sources, Royal Antwerp’s 22-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens is attracting the attention of the giant clubs of Europe and the Premier League with his performance this season.”

The report claims Antwerp are looking at earning €20-€25 million from his sale and whether INEOS give the green light to proceed will be interesting to see.

United are not in the pink of health financially and the Red Devils will have to prioritise which positions to strengthen first before proceeding.

At first glance, United need a striker, midfielder and wingback much more urgently. Ultimately, finances will dictate in which direction United proceed in during the transfer window.
