BACK David Tully May 12th 2026 A Man Utd representative was in the stands for AC Milan’s 3-2 home defeat to Atalanta on Sunday, according to reports in the Portuguese media. Tabloid Record claim that a scout “returned” to see Rafael Leao for a second time, having watched him against Juventus during the 0-0 draw last month. Leao‘s recent form hasn’t been particularly great, having not scored for two and a half months, and Milan fans have even started whistling him over the past few games. Even so, a move to Old Trafford seems to be a genuine possibility, with the Red Devils keeping a close eye on his performances. How much would Leao cost? Reports in the English media suggested that Milan may hold out for as much as £60m, but Record say that the Rossoneri might consider offers in the region of €50m (£43m). They could be forced to sell Leao for a lower amount, as the loss to Atalanta means that Max Allegri’s side are now in danger of losing out on Champions League football next season. With two games remaining, they sit in the last qualification spot, but they are only above rivals Roma on their head-to-head record. Man Utd could have competition for the player Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been mentioned as other potential destinations for Leao, but the links to United appear to be the most concrete. Director of Football Jason Wilcox has made recruiting a left winger a priority for the summer transfer window, and Champions League qualification will allow the Manchester club to devote sufficient resources to buying a player of Leao’s calibre. With Milan apparently willing sellers, it is definitely a transfer story to keep a close eye on over the coming days and weeks. Want more news on Man Utd?
