REPORT: Man Utd Hold ‘Initial Talks’ With Agent Of PL Star Who Has Only Made 18 Senior Appearances

BACK David Tully Feb 18th 2026 Man Utd are in contact with the representative of Wolves forward Mateus Mane, according to reports. CentreDevils have run an “exclusive” in which they claim that the Red Devils have held “initial talks” with the teenager’s agent. The club are keen on recruiting a new left winger ahead of the summer transfer window and Mane has been identified as an ideal target. The 18-year-old has made his first-team breakthrough at Molineux this season, having scored his first senior goal against West Ham at the start of January. What do fans need to know about Mane? The youngster was born in Portugal but he left his homeland to join Rochdale at the age of 8 in the summer of 2016. Mane spent eight years in the EFL side’s academy before opting to join Wolves. He had still not made his first team debut at the time. The forward made his first senior appearance in May last year, coming on for the last few minutes of Wolves’ 2-0 defeat to Brighton. He has gone to play 17 more games this campaign, scoring 2 goals and contributing 2 assists. At international level, Mane has been playing for England Under-18s, but he has also been called up by Portugal’s Under-17s. Man Utd are looking at several wide players Mane isn’t the only winger under consideration as a potential target ahead of the summer. The likes of Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, and AC Milan pair Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao have also been linked. However, it is believed their top target would be RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. He is a year older than Mane, although he would cost considerably more to sign. His asking price is said to be €100m (£87m). While Wolves are reportedly keen on keeping Mane, they may need to offload him to raise funds if they are relegated, so he would be a much cheaper addition for United than Diomande.
