Gary Neville ‘staggered’ that Man Utd star has been kept at the club, he’s started every game this season

Gary Neville is said to be ‘staggered’ that Luke Shaw is still at Manchester United following an injury-plagued career in Red.The side’s win over Crystal Palace last Sunday marked Shaw’s 300th game for the club. However, according to Samuel Luckhurst, the defender was reportedly ‘sheepish’ about United making a fuss over the achievement, given it came during his 12th season at Old Trafford. In that time, the player, as per Transfermarkt, has been unavailable for a whopping 231 fixtures across all competitions. How Shaw is faring in 25/26(Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images)Neville singled out Shaw for his lacklustre efforts during United’s 1-0 defeat to Everton on November 24 and, despite holding the utmost respect for him on a personal level, is in disbelief that his United tenure is still seemingly going strong. That being said, the 30-year-old has been able to stay fit since 2025/2026 got underway. He has started all 14 Premier League matches thus far, but does now face a battle to retain his spot at left centre-back amidst the return of Lisandro Martinez – another Red who can’t seem to catch a break with fitness layoffs. Why Shaw simply has to avoid injuries from now until the summer(Photo by Dan Mullan/Getty Images)Shaw will be adamant about staying well-placed in Ruben Amorim’s estimations and, therefore, in the starting XI for the second half of the term due to the forthcoming World Cup in the summer of 2026.Having not been called up to the England setup since Thomas Tuchel succeeded Gareth Southgate at the turn of the year, Shaw will be well aware that he has to be in his absolute best form  – and then some – if he is to have any chance of making the Three Lions’ final squad. The fact United are only playing once per week throughout the campaign certainly doesn’t bode in his favour, either.
