Man Utd Make ‘Enquiry’ About ‘Bargain’ Turkish International Who Could Solve Their Wingback Problem – Report

BACK David Tully Nov 26th 2025 Man Utd have made an enquiry about signing Roma fullback Zeki Celik, according to reports. The Turkish international is out of contract at the end of the season, and TEAMtalk reporter Rudy Galetti claims that the Red Devils are one of several teams interested in securing themselves a “bargain”. Celik has been a regular starter for Roma, who currently find themselves sitting top of the Serie A table. The Giallorossi have been working on extending the 28-year-old’s current deal, but the player is said to be in no rush to put pen to paper. What do Man Utd fans need to know about the player? Celik is an extremely versatile defender. He has played in a range of positions during his career, including right-back, centre-back and left-back. However, his ability to play wingback is likely to have attracted the attention of United’s recruitment team. The Red Devils are reportedly looking for additional options on the right flank, and Celik has plenty of experience in that role. Since moving from Lille to Roma in the summer of 2022, he has played there 59 times – 58  games on the right wing and once on the left. Celik has more than one Premier League club after him The defender’s potential availability on a free transfer has attracted interest from several other ‘Big Six’ teams, with Galetti reporting that Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City have also made their own enquiries. He has emphasised that there are only “preliminary” talks at this stage, with information being gathered before contract offers are tabled. Celik can formally speak to foreign sides in just over a month’s time, and from the sound of things, he could well have a whole host of proposals coming his way over the next few weeks.
