Leeds United Join Newcastle And Chelsea In The Race To Sign £40m Man United Star

BACK Dylan Oakley Nov 13th 2025 Leeds United, Newcastle and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing a Man United midfielder in January.  Man United will be going into the January window fairly pleased with their current squad, as they are just one point away from the top four in the Premier League. They drew 2-2 with Tottenham in their last game, to leave them eighth in the table. The Red Devils likely won’t make any major January signings unless they sell a couple of names first, as they already spent over £170m in the summer transfer window on new players. Striker Joshua Zirkzee has been linked with a move away, with the likes of West Ham and AC Milan named as potential destinations for the Dutchman. Kobbie Mainoo has also been linked to leaving Old Trafford, with Serie A side Napoli initially the front runners for the United midfielder, however, it now seems that there is significant Premier League interest too. Leeds join Newcastle and Chelsea for Man United star Mainoo The closer that we get to the January transfer window, the more the interest grows in the 20-year-old amongst Premier League clubs. According to a report by TeamTalk, Leeds United are the latest English club to express an interest in Mainoo, as they look to improve Daniel Farke’s squad amid reports that the Leeds boss is under significant pressure at the moment. Leeds join the likes of Newcastle and Chelsea who have previously been named as interested parties in the midfielder, but it is not yet clear whether Man United would be willing to sell him in January, or even send him out on loan in the transfer window for the rest of the season. Mainoo has made eight appearances in all competitions under Ruben Amorim this season, but he is yet to start in the Premier League, as Amorim has preferred the likes of Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro in the holding midfield role instead. He has an estimated market value of £40m, so if the Red Devils were to allow him to leave permanently, they could get a great chunk of money from any potential sale.
