United continue to compete with global giants in spite of downturn in form in recent years – report

Despite a significant drop off in success in recent years, Manchester United are still one of the biggest names in town when it comes to football. They have the biggest average attendance in the country and plan to build a new 100,000 seater stadium in the next few years. Whilst reporting on the number of social media followers Juventus and other Italian sides have, they also revealed the top sides in the world. The site explains, “moving on to the teams with the most followers on social media worldwide, Real Madrid leads the way with 423 million. In second place is Barcelona with 369 million, followed by Manchester United with 218 million.” Rounding up the top five, “Paris Saint Germain with 182 million and, in fifth place, the top Italian club, Juventus, with 153 million followers.” Ineos and supporters will hope that with increased success on the pitch in coming years, United can continue to rise and compete with the two Spanish giants. The fact that the club is the only English side in the top five is also something the marketing team will enjoy.
