Scholes & Sherwood in complete agreement that United are pushing to cut ties with a player who has ‘loads of ability’

Paul Scholes and Tim Sherwood have agreed that Jadon Sancho, whilst inconsistent, has ‘loads of ability’.It’s a sentiment that a large majority of Manchester United fans might dispute, given how poorly the player fared throughout his Old Trafford stint.Even now, Sancho is still contracted to the club, but has spent the last one-and-a-half seasons out on loan with Borussia Dortmund (second half of 2023/2024), Chelsea (2024/2025) and now Aston Villa (2025/2026).How Sancho’s move to Villa Park came to fruition(Photo by Jack Thomas/Getty Images)Neither Dortmund nor Chelsea pushed to sign the outcast Red permanently upon the culmination of his spells. In fact, the latter even went as far as paying a £5 million penalty to send him back to Manchester and bypass their £25 million buy obligation. It then took Sancho the entirety of the summer to find a suitor to join, with his enormous wages deterring several sides from engaging in negotiations.Eventually, Villa decided they would take a punt on the 25-year-old – albeit only with another loan agreement – and added him to Unai Emery’s ranks on deadline day.Sancho has since featured sparingly in the Midlands; he has yet to start a league fixture, but was deployed from the off for their Europa League defeat to Go Ahead Eagles last week and their third-round Carabao Cup tie against Brentford, which saw the Villans knocked out on penalties. In the league, he has made only two appearances thus far and been an unused substitute on three occasions. Against Manchester City on Sunday, Sancho was brought on to replace the injured Emi Buendia in the 29th minute and was later substituted out of the action, lasting only 45 minutes.Scholes and Sherwood in agreement over Sancho(Photo by Dan Mullan/Getty Images)Amidst the winger’s ongoing woes, Sherwood and Scholes weighed in on the situation on ‘The Good, The Bad & The Football’ podcast. The former said: “I like the boy.“I think he’s got – I don’t know him as a person – but I think he’s got a lot of ability.”Scholes chimed in: “Loads of ability.”“He needs to do it on a regular basis. You know, on a consistent basis, and if he does that, I mean, he’s good enough to play, you know, [at an] enormous amount of clubs,” concluded the former Tottenham Hotspur man.
