Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is being linked with a move to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ittihad, where he would reunite with an old comrade.
The 33-year-old has been playing his football at Old Trafford since completing a transfer from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 for £60 million. At the time, he was considered one of the best holding midfielders in the world, if not the very best.
This move made the Brazilian the highest-earning player at Carrington with a salary of £365k per week, albeit it has now been reduced to circa £300k due to the lack of European football this season.
Nevertheless, it has become incresingly clear that the experienced star’s best days are well behind him, even though he remains a regular feature in Ruben Amorim’s plans and Jamie Carragher hailing him as ‘still world-class’ last season.
Casemiro’s future at Man United remains uncertain
As recently reported by Stretty News, Casemiro continue to reflect on his future amidst interesting offers from the Arab world. After all, his contract with Man Utd will expire at the end of the season, so he’s expected to leave Old Trafford sooner or later.
According to Arriyadiyah.com, Karim Benzema has taken it upon himself to act as the Brazilian’s sponsor, telling Al-Ittihad to sign his former Real Madrid teammate.

The two stars played side-by-side for nine years at Stadio Bernabeu. Their partnership ended when the midfielder sealed a move to United in 2022, while the French striker headed to the exit door a year later, joining a host of top-notch stars who signed for Saudi clubs in 2023.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that Al-Ittihad already have Fabinho and N’Golo Kante among their ranks, so they might not necessarily need another midfield enforcer.
Interestingly, Casemiro had previously been linked with another Real Madrid reunion on Saudi soil, as some reports had tipped him to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, but a move never materialised.
