Ruben confirms a new pre-match routine

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed a change to the squad’s matchday routine, ahead of Sunday’s Premier League opener against Arsenal.

In recent seasons the players arrived individually at Old Trafford with four hours to go until kick-off, primarily to enjoy a pre-match meal at the stadium. 

However, following the official opening of our leading-edge facility at Carrington, the Reds will now meet at the training ground, eat together and travel as a group. 

We can confirm Ruben’s Reds are expected to arrive at Old Trafford around 14:45 BST on Sunday and, as before, the players will continue to embrace supporters who are waiting by the tunnel area.

In his pre-match interview with MUTV, Amorim explained how our new facilities will improve the momentum our players experience ahead of kick-off. 

“I always had the feeling that we arrive at Old Trafford and Old Trafford must be the centre of the game, but we cannot spend four hours there waiting for the game. 

“And I feel with these facilities [at Carrington] we can be here, preparing for the game away from Old Trafford and when we arrive at Old Trafford, we have to feel the fans and then go directly to the game, not killing the momentum of the connection with our fans. 

“We know that we have a lot of people waiting there for us, to be with the players and to sign autographs. We will try to do the same.

“So, it’s going to be the same experience for the fans.

“But for us it’s going to be better because we are going to feel, nearer the game, the momentum with the fans and we will spend less time in there.”

As per Premier League rules, the line-ups for Sunday’s blockbuster will be released 75 minutes before kick-off, which on this occasion will be 15:15 BST. 

MUTV’s Match Day Live broadcast will provide 60 minutes of unrivalled build-up from 15:30, before transitioning to radio commentary of the match at 16:30. 

Our ‘Short Highlights’ video will be available to watch two hours after the final whistle, so at approximately 20:30.
