Manchester United have suffered a significant setback in their pursuit of Club Brugge midfielder Adon Jashari, who has made it clear that his preferred destination is AC Milan.

So far in the ongoing transfer window, United have been focused on bolstering their attacking department. The club have already announced the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, while talks with Brentford over Bryan Mbeumo are in their final stretch.

Once a deal for Mbeumo is completely tied up, United will turn their attention to other positions, with a midfielder and potentially a goalkeeper believed to be on the agenda.

The middle of the park is especially in need of being addressed, following Christian Eriksen’s departure and the uncertainty surrounding Casemiro’s future, amidst interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Some of the midfielders United have been linked to include Ederson (Atalanta), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace), Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace), Xavi Simons (RB Leipzig), Hayden Hackney (Middlesbrough), Felix Nmecha (Borussia Dortmund), Gabriel Sara (Galatasaray) and of course, Jashari.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United had opened talks with Jashari’s agent regarding the possibility of a switch to Old Trafford.

Since joining Club Brugge from Swiss Super League side FC Luzern last summer for €6m, Jashari has made a major impact in the Jupiler Pro League. He played a key role in helping the team reach the Champions League round of 16 and secure a second-place finish in the league.

Widely regarded as one of the standout performers in Belgium’s top flight, Jashari is known for his impressive versatility, comfortably operating both as a defensive midfielder and in a box-to-box role. He’s an aggressive ball-winner with composure on the ball and a knack for keeping possession clean and efficient.

The 22-year-old also has an eye for goal, as evidenced by the four goals he managed last term across all competitions.

But United are not alone in their admiration for the Switzerland international. He is also believed to be on AC Milan’s radar, who have even lodged a bid for him, although it was rejected.

As United and Milan battle for his signature, Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed Jashari’s preferred transfer destination.

Romano wrote on X, “Ardon Jashari has informed Club Brugge about his desire to join AC Milan with two proposals already rejected.”

“No club to club agreement yet as Club Brugge want more than €27m plus €5m last bid.”

It remains to be seen whether Milan will step up their offer for Jashari, but for now, it appears that United have slipped to the back of the queue in the race for his services.
