Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has set the record straight, emphasising that AS Monaco are currently not exploring a January loan deal for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

Rashford hasn’t played for United in nine games across all competitions, having been axed for the Manchester derby victory last month over his performance in training. He has been named on the bench on just one occasion in this period but was an unused substitute as the Red Devils were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle.

Despite falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim, it’s understood that Rashford still wants to play for his boyhood club and is available for selection.

The England international bears no grudge toward Amorim and is ready to give 100% if called upon in the upcoming matches.

A host of clubs including AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham have all expressed interest in signing Rashford on loan this month but a transfer is proving to be difficult because of his mega £325,000-a-week wages.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco are keen on landing Rashford.

The report claimed that the wealthy French club would be open to paying most, if not all, of Rashford’s salary.

However, according to Romano, there is no truth in such suggestions and Monaco are not currently looking at Rashford.

The Italian journalist wrote on X, “AS Monaco are not working on Marcus Rashford deal, despite new reports this week.”

“Barcelona (depending on Ansu Fati’s exit) and Borussia Dortmund remain the two main options if Rashford ends up leaving Manchester United…as there are still chances for Marcus to stay.”

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has also insisted that it’s looking increasingly likely that Rashford will remain at Old Trafford beyond the winter transfer window.

“Marcus Rashford remaining in Manchester at the end of the transfer window is increasingly becoming a realistic scenario.”

“So far, no financial agreement has been reached with Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, or Barcelona, but all teams are still pushing to sign him. Nothing has been decided yet.”

“The salary alone is expected to be around €10m by the end of the season, unless the player agrees to a pay cut.”
